Brother, you ain't seen bad officiating until you've seen an SEC crew in action. I mean, these guys are an utter joke. Best football, worst refs!
No. I never know stuff like that ahead of time. But it sounds like we may be screwed either way. I do have to admit, however, that the refs we had for the Tennessee game last year did a terrific job.
I'm wondering since it's at a neutral site, if they'll use neutral refs (Refs outside the SEC and PAC 12) like for bowl games.
Agree on just about all points and you are right, that call does stick out because of not only how horribly wrong it was, but that it decided the game and awarded the W to Oregon even though it was erroneous. As for Stoops, I'm pretty sure when asked about the call his quote was something like, "we should have never been in a position for that call to affect us anyway" Living here in Soonerville I get lots of Bobby Stoops sound bites and they all sound just about like that. He isn't much on Charisma and being a chatty Kathy. In the end, the above mentioned SEC ref's really do take the cake. They make those kind of calls on a weekly basis.
Well it didn't actually give them the W, it gave them life. Oregon still had to go 52 yards in 1:02 for the score (They did it in :16). Then had to block a FG as time expired to seal it. But that's ancient history.
Hopefully since it's in Big12(10) country we will get those officials. Ive seen Pac 10 (12) officials totally blow calls, pathetic ones at that, but nothing compares to SEC officials..... We get them enough.
I think the speed of the games has gotten so fast, and these players are hitting so hard, that it's impossible for these refs to call a great game. What kills me is when it's reviewed upstairs and they uphold some of these rulings on the field. I can see missing it on the field, but not upstairs where it's all in slow motion. Oh well, it is what it is. I'd like to see Big 10/12 refs for the game, but we'll see soon enough.
