Touche. Certainly not saying that everyone in Tigerland should be obsessing about the "not so good" plays, but after the euphoria of the win, I kind of believe folks will break down the tape and be concerned about areas to improve. As Gumborue states above, the rational sports fan will be very happy with the win, but concerned about areas of improvement (the difference between last week and this week is just the quality of the opponent). I just ask you, is our great Les Miles and staff not going to point out the things that the kids could have done better this week? Not hating on the team, just saying that to ignore areas of improvement wouldn't be in this team's best interest.
Actually, I changed my mind, after watching a replay. We weren't outplayed through the first 3 quarters. We were outplayed through the first quarter and into the first couple plays of the second quarter. After that, we were the superior team for the rest of the first half and the third quarter. We just couldn't close the gap, despite playing a little better. Then we dominated the 4th quarter. We were definitely the better team for the bulk of the game. We just spotted them 10 points early and didn't finish off some drives.
That game last night was one for the ages. Neither team could accept the possibility of losing. LSU was playing to win the NC. Florida was playing for their lives after the AU game and to save the opportunity to defend their NC. I still picture Hester lying injured in the endzone after scoring the game-winning TD. I still picture the Florida OLineman punched by Dorsey and NOT wanting to leave the game until he had to. I screamed repeatedly throughout the game about how much I hate Tim Tebow. I hate him because he doesn't play for us, and because he's so good. Can you imagine the contests between LSU and Florida with a mature Tebow and Perrilloux at the helm in the next couple of years? It's going to be off the chain. Neither team was outplayed, and Florida didn't start making mistakes in the 4th quarter; we started taking the ball away and ramming it down their throats. I feel like this game will propel us to the NC because we showed so much heart last night.
Good for you! :thumb: sanctimonious??????? LOL twit??????? If we have ANY faith in LES at all he will do this. I think it's standard for them to critique it behind closed doors, ok so that's obvious BUT I don't think we always see it. Les plays his cards pretty close to the vest and I'm sure if he is ANY coach at all, which I believe he is, he will address the big issues. ( not real big mind you ) Notice he had Chad J. in for punt returns instead of J. Mitchell? things do get better, I do think he coaches through the issues, its up to the players to execute.
I do believe Florida executed better than we did for three quarters but that's not the point I was pointing out in your quote. It's the part I put in bold letters "The game is 60 minutes long", you don't win it just by winning 3 quarters.
From a Gator...Good game. I ll be honest, I thought we would come in and beat you guys since we lost to AU. You are the best team in the nation now and I think you will take it all the way. We may see you in ATL and we will be ready as I am sure you will be too. Great game... and by the way I hope you dont play the young QB, he is dangerous.
