Okay perfect....that is all that Obama was saying at the Prayer Breakfast. He was never justifying the actions of terrorists, he was reminding us that these terrorists do not represent all of Islam just as the crusaders didn't represent all of Christianity of that day. He was pleading for tolerance and asking folks not to paint the Muslim world with too broad of a stroke.
Yet we call them Christians dont we....... and they did it in the name of what? You know the answer. Same applies to these rejects. They are doing it in the name of their god for whatever stupid reason. No need to dance around it. Use any example you like of Christains, I DONT CARE. I aint one. But it isn't a Mass Majority of Muslims that disapprove in that region is what you fail to see.
"High Horse" is not a reminder. He was being condescending. It was out of touch and without thought. Or maybe he knew full well what he was doing. But like always, suck the man off because he is never wrong.
I sort of get what the president was trying to do but I think the context is off. Yes the crusaders were brutal and acted like barbarians in the name of religon. No one can dispute that BUT they did it 1000-500 years ago when that was the norm in the world. The Arabs did the same when they captured Christians so did Genghis Kahn to anyone. Rule by terror and massacre was the standard of society. I just finished reading about the Wars of the Roses. The English were that brutal to their own. Today ISIS is not in the Middle Ages and their standard of behavior should not be compared to that of the distant past. If the president wants to condemn them without tying it to Islam he should drop the crusades comparison and just condemn them as savages without conscience, religon and take a page out of King Abdullah's.

I think we've seen a rise in Islamaphobia (sp?) and the President was trying to strike a chord of unity between the religions at a political event that is open to all religions. So, what the camera doesn't show is that he was speaking to a group of Ministers from across the religious spectrum. There is no way to dispute the fact that the Crusades were several hundred years ago. But Hitler killed a lot of Jews in the name of Christianity too. Further, I would hesitate to say that the "modern" ME world is really all that "modern." Much of the way they live hasn't changed in hundreds of years. Dictatorships and Religious strong men have ruled the area with an iron fist for so long and opportunity isn't even a part of their lexicon. I do believe that the murder of the Jordanian pilot was a PR nightmare in the moderate Muslim world and the backlash could be more significant. In an ideal world they would police their own and we wouldn't have to send any more American treasure to take care of the mess.
Still waiting. I know its hard to think Obama is capable of mistakes. We are here for you if you need a shoulder to cry on.
