He could have as easily used the Nazi's, or the Klan or any other of the multitude of groups who have used Christianity to justify their hate. The point is that history is riddled with instances of groups or dictators who used religion to murder, pillage and justify anything and everything they desire, and that today's terrorists are in the same sub-human class as the Nazi's and the Klan and every other group who have ever committed murder in the name of their God or religion, including both Christian and Muslim crusaders. So no, it's not like comparing cro magnan man with a Frenchman from today....it's like comparing hate with hate. Hate is the same no matter what banner it flies under...whether the Crusaders, ISIS, Nazis, Klan, Al Queda, Hezbollah.....it's all the same. Facile is a poor choice of words for what the President has added to the debate through his public pronouncements and policy positions. The definition of facile is: appearing neat and comprehensive only be ignoring the true nuances and complexities of an issue. You and I obviously no better than that because Christianity is a peaceful religion that preaches love. Are there Old Testament verses that could be perverted so that crazy people can justify their crazy actions? Sure are and plenty of them. ISIS and Al Queda claim now that they are acting in the name of Islam. Reasonable, intelligent people who are familiar with the Muslim religion know that these people are not acting in the name of true Islam. Are there verses in the Quran that can be perverted so that crazy people can justify their crazy actions? Sure and plenty of them. This is it. This is all. Both the Nazis and ISIS claimed that they were acting on behalf of their religion. Both are lying. Both were/are using select verses to justify their craziness. Neither are true representatives of the religions they pervert.
There is a fundamental difference between Hitler and ISIS. Ignore it. I dont care. Just shows how little you know. In these instances, people like to compare. The Christian religion and Muslim religion are so far apart you should realize this. An overwhelmingly majority of Muslims support Sharia law. That should tell you all you need to know. They are STUCK in the stone ages.
Pride, I've tried my best to explain this you but you just aren't getting it my friend. I am not trying to argue with you here, I am trying to help you understand that the correlation between the Nazis and ISIS is that they are both using carefully selected tenets of a particular religion while completely ignoring others to justify a vicious and terrible agenda. This isn't about which religion is better or which is not because I could care less about that; I am not a religious person. I am distrustful of them all. But like I said, this isn't even about the religions.....this is about the people who pervert those religions for their own purposes. That is the correlation. Do you understand that?
