My standard and repeated reply to all "LSU Fans Were Rude" posts henceforth: Wails of the Vanquished, Gnashing of Teeth, and the Lamentations of their Women are Music to my ears and bring Joy to my Heart. My Tiger Soul Rejoices to learn that Our War Cry "TIGER BAIT" strikes such fear and loathing into the Hearts of our Enemies. Let them Hear it Loud and Long! Let them Tremble like Feeble Women in contemplation of confronting Our Raucous Hordes! Let them Pee upon themselves at the very Sound of our Mighty Golden Band! Let them Flee the field of Confrontation lest the Wrath of the Tigers be loosed upon them! Let their hearts quail and their blood run cold at the sight of Purple and Gold! Tell me more Once Mighty and Tiger-Mauled Vanquished Sooners, Tell me how never has such Fear Been Upon You, How Others are mere striplings compared to the Fearsomeness of the Purple Horde! ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY CHAMPIONS! ALL HAIL LSU! Bow Ye Vanquished, Grovel for Mercy Lest Ye be TIGER BAIT once more! No supplecation to the Baton Rouge Advocate will Avail Thee! No Whining to Skip Bertman will Save You! Submit and be Assimilated or you will surely be TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT TO HELL! ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY CHAMPIONS! ALL HAIL LSU!
I find it hilarious that I was in NO for 5 days, was on Bourbon St. a few times, in the quarter every day and the worst I ever heard was just 'Tiger Bait', which really isn't that bad. They're obviously just bitter about the loss and feel like this is a good way to get back at LSU.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but... If all of you really believe we don't have a bunch of idiot fans who do threaten, curse, intimidate and throw a punch or 2 then your heads have been in the sand a little too lobg. Are some of these stories made up or at least embellished, I'm sure there are some that are. But after traveling around the country and talking to firends that were in New Orleans that week and most of whom live there I know we had some very unruly fans their that just don't represent us well and I wish they would not show up at any LSU event or call themselves fans of LSU. They are total F'ing idiots that take things way too far. And if you don't believe me where Auburn or Bama or Florida colors to the next game you go to at LSU. Walk the entire campus in those colors and bring a notebook so you can write down all unacceptable behavior you encounter. I've seen it firsthand at LSU with friends of opposing teams that live here in Atlanta and none of them would ever go back to Tiger Stadium wearing their team colors, none of em. A couple of idiots wanted to fight me for taking up for my friend when they threatened him if he didn't take his jacket off. Yep, if we all just ignore it then maybe none of it really happens. you think Skip would have written that letter if he didn't have a real good reason too. We have a bunch of people that all say they didn't see anything so it couldn't have happened, but believe me it does. I bleed Purple and Gold and I take my sons to games all the way from Georgia, they are just as big of fans as me even though they have grown up in Georgia. They were with me and saw the confrontations and just don't understand why some of the LSU fans are like that. I tell them I don't understand it either.
cajdav1, very good points. There are certainly exaggerations from Sugar Bowl weekend but I'm sure a lot of unfortunate events took place. "Unruly" bandwagon fans hurt the image of LSU. N.O. was the place where many of them flocked.
This all comes as a surprise to me. I was staying in the Marriot with the rest of the band after the game. I went out on Canal St. to a little convenience store to get a six pack for me and my roommates (since we were all too tired to go to Bourbon). While I was there, I ran into two OU fans. Both of them congratulated me and the rest of LSU for a game well won. I couldn't believe it. I suppose the conclusion is that there are always some bitter losers in any NCAA team.
whether we belive it or not doesn't matter. it has to still be proved in a court of law to be acted upon. if we start convicting people based on hearsay what is next? Skip did put that up on the LSU site BUT he also gave a number to report rude activity so something could be done. Stories from Norman just don't seem to be credible enough in America YET to accuse someone. Bottom line is no matter what fan you are or who your team is there is always a small minority of that group that acts like asses. It's not just football, look at soccer. You have to catch these people in the act or have some sort of film or proof then prosecute them THEN others will see this type of activity is not tolerated.
QUOTE]whether we belive it or not doesn't matter. it has to still be proved in a court of law to be acted upon. if we start convicting people based on hearsay what is next?[/QUOTE] Who the hell said start convicting people, what I am saying is that we have MORE than our share of these characters and that we need to do something about it before it gets out of hand. There are all kinds of ways we can work on solutions to this problem. And if you don't think it is a problem then don't worry about it. however I am a big LSU fan and I don't want a few idiots damaging our reputation. I would love to see LSU security and BR police work on some things to help the situation like go undercover and walk around in other teams colors and see what happens. Something has got to be done before one these situations gets out of control. JSracingBBF, you evidentally don't think this is a problem as you have not seen it and it has not happened to you. But I know it happens and as long as we all just ignore it and/or just blow it off than it will get worse, as it appears to be doing every year. . Were the bottle throwing LSUFANS at the Sugar Bowl O K with you also? That was really great when the ABC announcers told the entire nation that they had to move because of LSU fans throwing bottles down to the lower levels and field from the upper deck. Just a great way for our university to get exposure.
