2nd only to Nick Saban in college football. 400K less than a coach with 5 National Championships at his current school.

    2020
    Saban 4-0...so far ( 2 Top 15 wins)
    Orgeron 1-2...so far (Vandy win)

"Yes, LSU won the National Championship last season which prompted Orgeron’s massive contract extension that made him the second-highest-paid football coach in the nation behind Alabama’s Nick Saban. However, you have to be a fool to not see that LSU’s success was predicated on two people last season, Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow, and former passing game coordinator Joe Brady. Those two set a myriad of offensive records and were the most integral pieces that helped the Tigers go undefeated and win a championship. Brady is now an offensive coordinator in the NFL and his former star quarterback is off to a stellar start with the Bengals. Let’s just look at the start of the 2020 season, LSU is already 1-2 having lost to traditional underachievers Missouri and Mississippi State. If you eliminate the 15-0 season from Orgeron’s resume he only has a 70 percent winning percentage at LSU. In comparison to other coaches getting top dollar at their current universities like Saban and Clemson’s Dabo Sweeney, Orgeron trails both star coaches in overall winning percentage by more than 11 percentage points. This is not to mention his horrendous 28 percent winning percentage as head coach of Ole Miss. While loved in the bayou for his accent and engaging personality, he is not a top-three coach in college football and shouldn’t be paid as such."

Even if they don't 'eliminate' the 15-0 season, Orgeron is not there.

Are you seeing $9 million dollar coaching on the field? Did AD Scott Woodard & LSU's BOS jump way too soon to throw money at a single NC winner, Nick Saban type money? Similiar to overpaying Jimbo Fisher at A&M?

"Orgeron is the only coach in the top five whose team has a losing record so far this season. The Tigers are 1-2 after losses to Mississippi State and Missouri. Both Alabama and Clemson are undefeated and Texas A&M is 2-1 after beating Florida days ago. Michigan’s season hasn’t started yet."

Everyone overpays for coaches that win a natty. We just seem to be exceptionally good at it.

Where was this same attitude when Miles went from natty to 8-5? Half of which were OOC teams and the greatest comeback in Tiger Stadium history against...Troy

No, no they don't. MIles never made anything close to Saban's 2007 Alabama contract.

"Nick Saban's first Alabama contract sent shockwaves through the college football world when Mal Moore lured him back from the NFL. The eight-year deal for $32 million total would make Saban's annual check of $4 million a game changer."

So you're planning on going 8-5? Good luck wit dat!

No, this year's schedule does not include 4 teams from the land of misfits. We are on the edge of winning 3 games max, and that's a stretch. Did you miss the paper bag? Far from fuckin pleased.

I don't think he was lured from Miami. I think he saw the writings on the wall and jumped ship. Tuskerlooser lured him their way when he could have coached anywhere he wanted in the Power 5. Your buddy was canned at LSU and waited quite a while until someone like Kansas took a flyer on him when no one else really wanted to. Think Kansas is overpaying right now?

I'm just asking if anyone in the country thinks Ed Orgeron deserves Nick Saban money. I doubt anybody's pleased with what we've seen this season.

College football head coach money is ridiculous to start out with. They are all being overpaid. And yes LSU should have waited to give Orgeron big money. I doubt anyone would have taken him away from LSU and I doubt he would have jumped ship given what many have said about his love for LSU.
