He wants to be a HC. He'll take any one open. I didn't figure we would have him long whether he takes this one or not.
Why not... It would probably pay three times what he is making now. I think the real question is does he really want to be a head coach? If nothing else, the interest brings his perceived value up for a DC position which I think would ultimately be ideal for Coach O. I was hopeful that he might be in line for the DC as at LSU, but now, who knows what our future is?
Totally different culture. It's why he wasn't hired at USC, had nothing to do with coaching ability. Coaches need ability but need to fit also most of the time. Orgeron would be wise to try and get the DC gig at LSU. He was born to be here despite his desire to be a HC. sometimes it's better to be very successful at a lower level than to fail at a higher level. But in the end he has to follow his heart.
Just polite talk...no contact. He wouldnt accept just any head coaching gig but not saying he wouldn't take this one if offered.
