he just called to give me a little advice .................................................................. Michael Bloomberg gives $1.5 million to fight Measure 103, the grocery tax ban https://www.oregonlive.com/business/index.ssf/2018/10/michael_bloomberg_gives_15_mil.html Oregon doesn't have a sales tax, just about every election they try to find a way around that, we don't let em,.. just vote no.
Here, the sales tax on food is only 3%. Sodas are taxed as food items so if I buy a Coke for a dollar I only pay 3 cents in tax.
why is Michael Bloomberg sticking his nose in our business? we don't want any sales tax,.. just vote no
Depending on which city or parish you live in taxes on non food items are around 10%. Pretty irksome if you buy a $40,000 truck and then have to pay an extra $4,000. A few years ago I bought a used van from an ad on Craigslist. I paid $5500 for it but we wrote the bill of sale to show the price was $1000 so when I registered the vehicle I only had to pay $100 in tax instead of $550. It's a pretty common practice but car dealers don't go along with it.
