Dozens of costumed participants crawled into carved out 1,000 pound pumpkins and paddled across a pond in a race to the finish line.
speaking of huge, (sweet segue),.. Oregon State had a football coach, Dee Andros,.. great big fat guy,.. coached there for like a 100 years, then was their AD for fitty more. You'd always see him prowling the sideline in his bright orange jacket, couldn't miss him, he was so fat and orange, you could spot him a mile away,.. he eventually got the nickname and was known for decades as, the Great Pumpkin. pic doesn't do him justice
That looks like a good time...I'd bring a keg in the pumpkin with me. And see how much I could drink floating around in that damn thing.
There's an actual organization that sets the standards for giant pumpkins....The Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. The North American record was broken just a month ago in New Hampshire. 2, 528 lbs. $6k in prize money for Steve Geddes.
