i think we all agree on the erosion of freedom angle. in fact, i do not know anyone who doesnt agree. as far as i can tell, the entire population of the universe except for politicians either likes gambling or doesnt care enough to favor it being banned. incredible. you were playing poker before the rest of us had even heard of it.
Like I said in an earlier post. Income taxes were never suppose to be more then like 3%. Now the goverrment gets up to 30% plus they take half of any lottery games etc. Plus we are still in debt in this country big time. What gives?
you are preaching to the choir on this one. if i were in charge, many huge parts of the government would be completely abolished immediately. people would learn to manage their lives themselves, without goverment help/meddling. i think the only real domestic issue that matters is that taxes are too high.
pretty funny how things are labeled gambling and not gambling in our world. I guess we are conditioned much like the label 'war on drugs' and whats legal drugs. It simply comes down to if they can't get their mitts on it, its illegal and bad for mankind. If they can get their share of the pie, its just fine. oh and kenny, i think you keep missing the point. most everyone is aware poker is a game of much skill just that luck is needed to win as well. Moreso than most "sports". edit: jamie gold sucks ass. he played some of the worst hands ever and won. he makes moneymaker look like stu unger.
There is one group who wants to ban online gambling. It's those legal gambling establishments in our country who don't want to lose gamblers to the internet. And they have their hands deep in the pockets of our politicians...
a buddy of mine who smokes pot lost his source, so yesterday we were trying to find him a new place to get weed. the only place we could find (my doorman) charges 475$ an ounce 475! i couldnt believe it. the whole process infuriates me, because we have to be all quiet like freaking criminals. i feel terrible for my poor friend, who doesnt like drinking, but loves pot, because by chance my vice (beer) is perfectly legal and cheap, while his happens to be deemed immoral or whatever. so i am sitting there perfectly happy enjoying a beer watching the world series, while he is the phone with one shady criminal after the next. damn drug laws.
here's a nice place we found when in jersey awhile back. By nice i mean drive-thru and beer. http://www.hbso.com/monthly_specials.html
that place is sweet, and maybe 3 minutes from my house. if only they had weed there. perhaps you are implying to me that they do. i will ask them. if they dont, they certainly should.
damn i shoulda stopped by. we have an office in jersey and sometimes are forced to endure that dump of a state. ill wait til next baseball season to contact you so you can score us some tickets. im pretty sure they have weed but didnt ask. Ill bring some if i can get it. i dont smoke but im sure that mexican dude out back has some.
new jersey is a wonderful state. it is "the garden state"! highest per capita income and highest IQ as well. anyways, back to the point. to me it seems 100% arbitrary what is legal and what isnt. gambling? marijuana? to me it is beyond comprehension what anyone could have against these things. i guess you guys are right about it having to do with a government enformed monopoly where only certain people get to run casinos. i always say that the only possible monopoly that hurts the market is a government-enforced one, and nobody listens. so far i have only noticed partypoker ahs shut its doors to americans. when the online sportsbooks shut down, my anger will kick it up a notch. bam! edit: i just remembered i think connecticut is the highest iq state.
