Online gambling needs to be made legal & regulated. This would answer political concerns a lot better than simply making it illegal IMO. And the thing is, the industry WANTS to be regulated because America is such a huge market.

If parents don't like their kids using their credit card to gamble online, they should do there job & be a parent instead of contacting their congress man to complain about it.

why does the industry want to be regulated? do you mean they want to be regulated instead of outright banned? i think that is apparent. but i dont think they otherwise want to be regulated. nobody wants themselves to be regulated, they want others to be regulated.

gambling should be legal and basically totally unregulated.

I suppose "want" may have been to strong, but they are willing to - and they don't even want to put up a fight because even with regulation they stand to make boat loads of money. It would also be a very, very good financial decision for our government because of the amount of tax revenue it would generate.

I do not agree it should be unregulated.

well, most of these casinos that are being affected now are overseas, so they shouldnt be messed about with. physical casinos should be taxed like any other business. and foreign gaming companies should be left slone entirely, even if americans are their main customers.

i guess what they have done is tell banks they are not to make payments to these casinos, which of course is absolutely ****ing insane.

They are over-seas because they are forced to be at the moment.

and they will always be overseas as long as the government intends to regulate them. thats why they should be completely unregulated. that way they could stay here and help our economy, create jobs here instead of overseas. if the government agrees with you that they should be regulated, they will just move overseas. their being overseas is a necessary result of a mentality like yours.

What I love are the Republicans who are disgusted by this as an erosion of Liberty, but yet in the same breath express support for the "War on Drugs". The "War on Drugs" is the template that is used to erode your Liberty, and as a whole has done more to erode Civil Liberties in this country than any other institution or law. Here's how it goes:

    1. You take the worst case scenario as your argument (Crazy PCP-addict shoots up an orphanage / Family guy spends his life savings away gambling)

    2. You make it for the children (Pot smokers don't hurt themselves, but they may be too stoned to remember to feed the baby / Children can get on these sites and gamble with the parent's credit card)

    3. You setup an alternative system where the govt benefits, not private enterprise (Vote pandering via Massive Tax entitlements and programs for legally powerful addicting drugs, lobbyists lining pockets, more power to the Police and Fed Govt to intrude on suspected drug users / State run lotteries, brick and mortar casinos)

And wa-la! More power to the Government. Which means less Liberty to the people. You can't have it both ways.

dont look at me dude, the only thing i need to erode our personal liberties for is protection from killings by terrorists. i am happy to lose freedom to keep murdering terrorists down.

however i do not need protection from awesome fun things like mind altering substances or happy games of chance.

My whole arguement is that poker isn't a game of chance. To qoute from the movie "Rounders" - "Why do the same people end up at the final table of the World Series of Poker? Are they just the luckiest people in Vegas?"

The answer is no, poker is a SKILL game!
