1. forgot.

the great juemichael young was last seen as a valuable bench player for tech, his senior season. (btw--not georgia tech, virginia tech, or even virginia tech, either)

another example of questionable recruiting, not questionable coaching.
  2. Including that one? :D :hihi:
  3. Boring, players like this leave duke all the time!:hihi:
Maybe we can start Tasmin Mitchell at PF!
  4. An article from Rosetta at the Advocate, in the wake of the Rolle departure, seems like an interesting perspective on this issue. I can't help feel a little bit that "you're damned if you do and damned if you don't". Brady, goes to the final four with essentially hometown boys (naysayers will say Temple's boys) and Brady doesn't get credit for the final four, b/c these players "just fell in his lap" and he "can't recruit outside LA." So, he goes out and signs top 20 and top 40 players (let's not forget Rolle and Koundjia were top 40 type players that were recruited by major programs). Of course, many of them are no longer here, and then he gets blasted for defections.

I don't completely agree with Rosetta that you have to focus in basketball recruiting to the "close home" regions, but you can't argue with the results. Rolle, Koundjia, Neltner, Voogd, (throw Minor in there for measure) have all "not panned out" in one way or another. DJ Wright and Garrett Green from this year are already hurting us in some ways (Wright backed out, and will Green stick it out?). So, I think that developing a real positive image within LA, so we can land the best guys every year is key. BUT, you have to be able to go into neighboring states like TX and MS and have credibility and success. If we own, or at least be a factor, in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Miss, Mobile, and now Dollar's back yard of GA, I think that's plenty of a foundation. Getting that occassional out of state guy from CA, NY or somewhere else, if he fits in and truly likes the guys on the team, may not be a bad thing but then Brady and staff and the guys on the team, have to make an effort to make sure that kid fits. To make this somewhat of a balanced story, you do have the name the guys that came from out of state, made a difference and were not from LA: Dupree, Whipple, Brian Beshara, Jaime Lloreda, for example.

:geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
  5. I read this on ESPN.

Is Rolle serious about entering the 2008 NBA draft? The guy barely made it in the SEC coming off of the bench. How does he think he is going to get to the NBA?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2880969

"After this season, me and my family members discussed it and decided that LSU is not the best place for me. It's a great place, but it's just time for me to move on and get a fresh start somewhere else," Rolle told The Advocate of Baton Rouge.

Rolle said he will weigh whether to transfer to another program or sit out next year to prepare for the 2008 NBA draft.
  6. Inapproprate but so, so awesome.
  7. Brady is consistent.. consistently mediocre.

    And it sucks.

If he were such a good coach, don't you think he'd recognize his own incredible shortcomings coaching offense and bring in an assistant or two who can teach proper offensive execution? We get great athletes, but he has never brought any of them to the next level of performance. In fact, last year looked like several regressed, which was astonishing.

  9. Its a good thing we have a good football coach!
Speaking of football maybe RP could play for Brady and keep his scholarship since LSU basketball isn't held to the same standards as football.
You can do all kinds of things and get away with it as long as you don't sleep with your coach!
  10. Now I understand while Rolle is gone, what a stupid demand.
