Yes I found most of them very abrasive. I actually had to sit in the Illinoi-ing section for this game as my sisters boyfriends's friend's cousin (still with me?) attended Illinoi-ing and was able to get us tickets for cheap (ofcourse it was the only way I could afford to go). Anyways, Some of these people tried telling us "LSU aint s*it", "LSU sucks", "other generic LSU insult", etc. and actually got into my friend's face, who also just so happened to be a cop. Upon showing the man his badge he said he wasnt really a cop, but remained mostly silent the rest of the game. Another annoying moment was this chick behind us kept lowering her pom pom and waving it in my and my mother's face everytime they did something good. Fortunately I was able to shut her up when she put in my face and I grabbed it from her and threatened to throw it. So after all of that, when we emerged victorious it was all well worth it to see the Illini fans leave early and remain completely silent. So in short, yes I agree BB. Sorry for the rant I just wanted to agree with BB here.
THIS JUST IN: another pass of Kurt Kittner's has just been batted down by the LSU D-Line. :hihi: :hihi:
One of the absolute lamest things I have ever witnessed in my life was after the 2002 Sugar Bowl. As I made my way down the Super Dome ramps with my date, a group of Illinois fans barked at me all the way down about how great they were going to be in basketball. They were vulgar, they were annoying, they were beyond obnoxious (and they were not drunk). This is how ALL of the many Illinois fans I encountered acted. Usually you can say things like "I met a few nice fans in the French Quarter" or "I sat next to some pretty cool fans" - not even close. If some of their women had not been cute, I would have thought they were Auburn fans... Is there anything more lame than mouthing off about your basketball team (to an LSU fan at that) less than 5 minutes after your football team got its ass drilled into the ground?
I must step up and agree with BB here as well. I as lucky enough to sit in the LSU section at that game, but the way to the game and from the game, those orange klowns were some arrogant. I was sober going into the game so I kept to myself, but I was laughing the whole way to the car. I think Josh Reed is still catching his breath from all the running around he did after catching passes in that game.
We thought the Gator fans were obnoxious. You guys thought Illinois was bad. We think Illinois has the worst fans in the Big Ten. A coincidence that the Gators and Illinois have the same colors (especially their road unis). Now an Iowa State fan, how easy is that, take a bottle of ketchup, a bottle of mustard, squeeze both all over yourself, and your ready to go.
Its odd because I know few people from Chicago (pretty far away from Champagn but...) and they are all nice, cool people. Ofcourse they went to LSU, so you know they cant be all that bad. I havent had the pleasure yet, but, Ive heard that Notre Dame's fans are the worst possible. Back to my sisters friend: she and my father attended a funeral in Chicago and some of his cousins (who attended ND and were ND fans) talked s*it to them the entire time...at a friggin funeral. From what I understand they were just as arrogant and snobby as could be, were relentless, and, even when my sister or father made a good comeback to them, they basically just said they were dumb, because we're from the south, and Louisiana is the worst.
WOW!!! I ACTUALLY thought you were going to "bash us" after reading your first sentence. So many fans from other schools seem to love either developing their own, or retelling a "fish story" conjured up from someone else, about how they visited Tiger Stadium once, and we pushed their 90 year old great-grandmother down the West upper deck, punched their wife in the face for no reason, spit on their hot dog and broke an empty bottle of Bourbon over the head of their 5 year old.....all in front of LSU security whom did nothing but laugh. :dis: The rest of your post was a breath of fresh air! Thanks for your kind words. I think both Iowa and LSU have now become siblings in that we both don't get the the obvious media-love that Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, UGA and worst of all, USC. Best of luck to the Hawkeyes from here on out! ...and I hope your coach comes to his senses and stays at Iowa instead of leaving for the NFL. :thumb:
