Before the season it is always fun to dream big. There is a lot of football to be played and LSU/USC in the Rose Bowl would be great but i have to tell you that you dont go undefeated no matter how good you are without a few breaks along the way. Would Auburn be undefeated last year if we had a kicker who could make an extra point or stopped them on 4th down. They got the breaks. LSU does not have a easy schedule either. Arizona St. , Florida, Tennessee , Alabama, Auburn . All it takes is not being ready for just one of those games and so long undefeated . USC does not have that kind of competition to face so they have an advantage. The Pac 10 is just not going to be that good this year . They also dont face a Championship game . Auburn guy is right. If i lower myself to think like an Auburn fan last year then i am really pissed. The SEC is the toughest conference . We had a team go undefeated and got left out of the championship game. It all traces to the media and their ass kissing of Pete Carroll. I am just ready for the season to get started and lets see what happens on the field. Geaux Tigers
Was I the only one who caught the Orange Bowl? That team was Championship quality regardless of who they did and did not play - I expect much of the same this season if the offense stays efficient.
Yes I watched the Orange Bowl...(well i missed the 1st quarter cause i was driving home from new orleans) But there was also the... Stanford game (31-28) California game (23-17) Oregon St game (28-20) UCLA (29-24) They were undoubtedly a championship caliber team...but its not like they didn't have close calls. They easily could have lost a game this year...so I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped one or 2 this year. Its not like they rolled through their entire schedule like they did with oklahoma
I hate to bring Saban up again, but it really hurts not having him there this season. I don't know much about Miles, and he seems like he'll be a damn fine coach in the long run, but I don't think he'll know how to handle the situation he has himself in at LSU. I hope I'm wrong but I just can't see how he would be able to go through the SEC undefeated in his first seasons. There are too many "quirks" that he'll have to get used to. He doesn't really know the team very well, and he is liable to go for a trick play in a VERY crucial situation maybe costing us a winnable game. That's why it will be really important to unleash the team in the first few games. That way, he'll have a better picture of the team. As dumb as it may sound, I hope he's kind of conservative and keeps it stupid-simple for the better part of the season so that the team knows how to win a close game. Seriously, with the talent we have, we won't be seeing TOO many close games. An important NCG that is close could have the team's morale low. But, I digress, Miles seems to be a great motivator. This season just needs to start RIGHT NOW, dammit.
They were on the ropes several times and they were within a play or two of being eliminated from the NC hunt, but they got it done. Then, they took a month and devised a battle plan and a war strategy so powerful and precise that they made a complete fool out of one of college football's brightest minds in Bob Stoops. They wiped the city of Miami with Oklahoma and they left Bob Stoops shivering in his own piss. What they did to Oklahoma was flat out the definition of domination. Oklahoma defenders were begging SC to run the ball and the clock. They took OU for everything and then they beat them in the mouth with their own dignity before leaving them to bleed to death on National Television. Norm Chow this, Norm Chow that - we have yet to see if the Trojan machine can destroy people without Chow at the helm. Either way, that team is dangerous and on track. USC lost at Cal 2 years ago and they haven't stopped since. Our road has been a little different with a heartbreaker at Auburn, a complete ass whipping at Athens, and a fluke in the Cap One Bowl. I would be a liar if I tried to say that I don't want USC in Pasadena - I will move out there if we get a Rose Bowl bid...
Aubarn non-conference '04: Lousiana Monroe The Citadel Louisiana Tech LSU non-conference '05: North Texas Arizona State Appalachian State I see two bowl teams on LSU's non-conference schedule, one of which is a top 15 team. Thanks for allowing me the time to answer your question aubbie.
IMO, USC will falter in two games because of Chow's absense. But, they do deserve to start off the year #1. Time will soon tell. Playing USC in the Rose Bowl would be a DREAM COME TRUE. We would dominate as many seats as possible and shows those California fruit-cakes what its like to play football.
