    owner of Gindusa's is friends with my wife. We're going to his wedding in a few months. That dude's committed to bread.

    I used to stop at Dufrene's Bakery in Golden Meadow on the way back from Grand Isle. The had great French bread and poboy bread. I don't think they are still open.

    The good news is that Matherne's grocery store on Highland Road sells Reising's poboy bread.

    That may be John Gendusa's son (can't think of his name right now). I dated his daughter, Robin, back in the day. Unless the old man is getting married again...but I doubt that. The son must be about 30 by now.

    Sonny Champagne had a full bakery in BB when I was a kid. He had some of the best stuff around. Everyone in town loved his "pink cookies". His french bread is very unique. My grandfather used to love to rip off the "nose" of the bread, remove some of the "white meat" and then fill it in with Steen's cane syrup ! Those were the days.
