Was he supposed to say.... "I would have liked to have played LSU that year, but damn they would have beaten the SH*T out of us" ?????????

Yes, it's a terrible tragedy that he's not media-perfect. Just be glad he's not your coach.

I don't see it as dissing his opponent. Perhaps if he hadn't been on the USC staff that year, it would have been dissing.

Nope, he can say whatever he wants. I think that a lot of us believe he is just stupid. That's all. Most coaches wouldn't have said that USC would have won. They would say something PC like, we'll never know.

To be honest with you, I'm surprised that he didn't say that USC would have beaten the "SH*T" out of LSU. That would be much more like coach 0.

I believe that every coach asked a question like that should say something about a playoff. If they are going to give you a stage, take advantage of it. Of course, it's not like Ole' Piss would make a playoff even if we had one.

Easy now. The yat Orgeron is not saying that USC team would have beaten this LSU team, he's simply saying that the 2003 USC team would have beaten the 2003 LSU team. He's now the coach of Ole Miss. Someone please advise me as to how that's bulletin board material????

Especially the week before the game! This should really fire the older guys on the team up! In a game that LSU might have lacked motivation they will certainly have enough for the tank now!

No need to be condescending, malcontent. The fact of the matter is I think it's pretty insignificant, given the current circumstance. I mean, what, do you think that LSU is all of a sudden going to be motivated to play hard on Saturday because of something he said about these teams 2 years ago? I never understood the rationale behind what a member of an opposing says the week before a big game in terms of 'motivating' the other team. If one team needs a reason to play hard, that doesn't speak positively on the state of their program.

Like I said, it's an awful shame that he didn't state his opinion as you see fit. We went through 5 years of hearing a coach speaking a lot of words but never really offering much of an opinion on anything, or saying much at all, for that matter. Not all coaches are like that. So I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it.

It just seems like an exercise in futility discussing what you think somoene should have said.

It might have been 2 years ago and some players have gone but its more than that it is an insult to the University, Fans, and players(many who are still on this team) pretty much flushing the :crystal: down the toilet!

Every good team needs something to motivate them. Do you really think they just decide "oh I guess I'm motivated now!" Look at Miami and VT, VT was looking past Miami and you see what happened it fired them up and they crushed VT. Miami used VT's arrogance to their advantage! Football is a game about exploiting your opponents weaknesses and that is what was done!
