    Re: New Head Coach

I didn't read most of the posts, but I don't think most people hope Miles is leaving. I think most believe the timing is right for him to go (for him and Michigan) after yesterday. It would have been absolutely crazy for him to say he was leaving prior to a NC game. If Michigan was willing to wait until after the NC to make a formal offer, that would have pretty much told everyone a deal was already in place and he was leaving, so it would have been the same thing.

If it is the man's dream job, then I wouldn't fault him for taking it, in fact, I applaud the man for having that much love and respect for his university. And if he does go, my hope is he is highly successful and it doesn't blow up in his face.

That being said, if he does leave, I think there is one coach who should be the immediate focus of the powers that be, and that is Steve Spurrier. I've said it several times this weekend already, if the man is happy with semi-retirement, then he will not leave SC, but, if he still has the fire, and still wants championships, then LSU is a job I think he would jump to, regardless of any past feelings he has toward the university.

On the other side, if Miles stays, I think the best thing for us is for Bo to take another job somewhere else if offered. We found out from Lou Tepper that a react defense has no place in the SEC, and that seems to be where we have gone. Perhaps it is because our secondary is not as capable as it has been in years past, but it will no doubt be weaker next year, and I am convinced he is not an SEC caliber DC. If anyone is "thrown under the bus", he should be.

I agree with you in the fact that a react D has no place in the SEC. You must be aggressive. I also agree that Miles shouldnt be thrown under the bus. He has done a lot and deserves another legit shot. I hope he comes back but I think he is now as good as gone.

I disagree though with throwing Pelini alone under the buss. The fact is Miles is the head coach he should be thrown under as well if you are throwing Pelini. Miles could override him. Its not like Miles is making adjustments either.

Spurrier, Erickson, Peterson, Crowton, and Robiskie are all good candidates if Miles does leave for UM.

If so I hope we go after Muschamp or Tenuta(sp?). I hope we go after someone who isnt scared to get beat and will play aggressive. When you rattle a QB early on with a few big hits he is often mentally out of the game afterwards.

    Re: BO....ROKE PELINI

let me get this straight...in 2003, we blitzed more because of Saban and not Muschamp but in 2007 we blitzed less because of Pelini and not Miles???

Absolutely! We even had a former Tiger, Jerry Stovall, as coach. But these have been the best years and I am looking forward to many more with or without Les.
