By Houston, do you mean UH or the Houston Texans? The Texans, I believe, play on actual grass.

Someone told me that the turf at the SEC Championship game was a little different than that of the Ole Miss game. They said the Ole Miss turf was the same as the new Superdome turf and a little more slippery than the SEC Championship turf, which is produced by a different manufacturer. Is this true?

Slight differences in the "grass" part. The bases are essentially the same. The reason the Ole Miss (Astro-play) surface was so slick was because of the dew that formed around dusk. Inside the dome, you won't have that situation.

And Ramah, this is next-gen Astro-Play, not old skool Astro-Turf. Speed still kills on the stuff, but it is not quite the same as the old fuzzy concrete that the Saints used to play on and what is currently inside the LSU indoor practice facility.

Actually neither team has EVER played on this stuff before, it's a little different than the stuff at OU's practice facility and the Jawja Dome and Ole Mrs., etc., another company makes this one. This is actually kind of a test for this surface, it's a little softer according to the LSU players. But I have to believe that practicing on it for 5 days will get everyone use to it and they will have the correct shoes on. 2 fast teams on fast surfaces.
