There is one argument you will never overcome. How can you be National Champion when you are not even your conference champion?

Ok, I understand that. However, if we beat you does that mean you are ranked third if you played in the Big 12? Does that mean you are SEC conference champions except for the game you lost? Look, I understand what you are saying and trust me it is extremely frustrating from a fan standpoint. However, we all bought into the BCS. It is not a perfect system. After the game Stoops was asked the same question. He simply replied that we got our butts whipped. If we have enough points to play for the title then we will. If we don't there will be no complaining at all.

If USC should have been in that game then they would have beaten Cal which lost 6 games this year. They would have played a schedule similar to LSU and OU. I would love to see the top 4 teams have a playoff so that there is no question at all. However, until the ADs of all of the major schools want the same we are not going to have it. If you want take away any doubt that OU should not be in this game then beat us. But if OU beats LSU then USC is going to believe even stronger that they should have been there and not you. So there are a thousand angles to look at this from. The bottom line is this. Your fans can say all day long that we don't belong in that title game. However, you still have to line up and play us. You still have to find out is you are good enough. If you beat us I promise that I will come back onto this board and congratulate you on a national title. Most Sooner fans will because we win with class and lose with class. I look forward to a great game. See you in New Orleans.

    Here's the deal

There is really no reason to keep talking about who deserves to be there on Jan. 4th. You are about to find out that no matter what you say about OU, we as fans will not stoop to your level. I personally am really excited about playing LSU. I think it is going to be a blast because hopefully you bring a bunch of rowdy folks! You know, USC did not play a conference championship, so does that mean they do not deserve to be there either? One loss to a top 25, Big XII team is ok in my book. I think it says a lot to stay number 1 in all the polls, all season. Like I said, I can’t wait to roll into Nawlins. And I will be the second person to come back and congratulate you all….If you win!

We can't change the current system for this year, so Boomer2003 is right... the only thing Oklahoma (and their fans) can do is to get ready for the Sugar Bowl, and LSU is going to do the same. All of the "woulda, coulda, shoulda" talk will come afterwards.

While I'd like a clear-cut national championship after we (hopefully!) beat Oklahoma, part of me would be pleased with a split decision, since I think we would be most likely to get a 4 team playoff if that happens.

OU, LSU, and USC all have one conference loss. OU lost to KSU last Saturday in a pretty convincing way. Why? Maybe they bought into their press and became complacent. Maybe they were distracted by the Mike Stoops move. Maybe KSU is better than OU. I do know KSU was better than OU that night. But don't forget despite that KSU has been on a very strong six-game winning streak they also have two losses to both OSU and TX; teams OU beat by a combined score of 117-22. So ultimately OU has the best record in the Big 12 conference and judging by the entire Big 12 season, they are the best team in the conference. Don't look at the parts, look at the whole.

In most instances, I would agree with you that since OU didn't win their conference game, they have no right to represent the conference in a national championship game. This year I think is the exception since it had been pretty clearly established who the best team in the Big 12 is. If both KSU and OU had been undefeated or one-loss teams, I would agree with you. Otherwise, what is the point of playing the regular season. That is what I really like about college football. The regular season counts for something.
