I'm seriously considering getting a storm shelter put in my backyard. I think they run in the $4000 range, and it sure seems worth it living in Tornado Alley.
I got to see some of the destruction this morning driving into work. Its quite surreal. On the west side I-35 through Moore, between mile markers 116 and 117, there is a walmart, a lowes, a movie theater and a hospital, with a few restraunts and such in the parking lots out front. The walmart and lowes looked untouched. The movie theater took some damage, but it looked minimal to my untrained eye. I would guess that they could be open again in a couple weeks if they wanted to be. Just north of the theater was rubble for the next half mile, including what was left of the hospital. The hospital looked like the first floor was somewhat standing with the 2nd floor completely destroyed. All of the buildings between the hospital and the I-35 were just completely destroyed. The houses on the east side of the interstate were knocked down to their foundations. All of the roads in and out of moore are still closed, but the pictures make it look like the worst damage was further west of the hospital. Please keep those families affected by this tragedy in your prayers. thanks.
Contact your local Emergency Management Director. He may be able to find you a better deal than that.
Hell yeah. Don't forget the jacuzzi and surround sound stereo. Just cause its bad outside doesn't me daddy can't be getting busy inside FEMA does have some kind of deal you can apply for Stacey.
I feel for the families and first responders. Nothing in the world is as bad as losing a child. But being the one searching for a child and having to go into recovery mode is a close second. I know your gonna include everyone in your prayers also Tigerchick.
Indeed! Even though I can't fully relate without any children, I feel horrible for all those families.......all of them in my prayers, first responders and soldiers are my hero's.....God bless em all.
My thoughts are with all of you that were affected and the overall community. I've never been very close to a violent tornado and they really scare me. It seems as though you may know that the conditions are favorable for tornado activity 24-48 hrs ahead of time but not the exact location so you can't even evacuate if you wanted to play it safe (unless willing to drive hundreds of miles). Reading about Joplin, Tuscaloosa, and others in recent years makes them even more frightening.
