It's reported that he didn't consult with any one from the coaching staff or his parents. If that's accurate then it's apparent to me that he was able to take the action on his own.
But the report said he tweeted his INTENTION to enter the portal, not that he entered it. I was just trying to make sure we were talking about the same thing. Not telling anyone he “planned” to is not the same as “doing.” Where’s @islstl thread on buzz words? That transfer portal bullshit needs to go in it.
Having not read anything about it, it comes off as though there was some sort of unhappiness, he got mad and reacted, and now perhaps cooler heads are trying to prevail. I'm sure there is some sort of formal process that a player has to follow in order to notify the school. I thought I read somewhere that the school has 1 or 2 days to enter the information in the portal after xfer is requested
He can tweet all day but in order for his name to appear in the portal, the school has to enter it. A player can not do that on their own. The entire reason for the portal was to make it a formal process so that if a player wanted to transfer, they weren't being poached by other schools behind the scenes.
We're in danger of splitting hairs. He's an 18 year old kid. Only he and possibly some of his followers know what he did. One thing he didn't do was consult his parents. Pops was pissed.
It has been reported that he met with a member of the Compliance Department. If that's accurate, only they know what transpired in the meeting. Bottom line, he's staying at LSU. That's all that matters.
By the time he figures out what you’re saying (and you’re correct btw) it’ll be time for football season to begin.
