Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended I am not convinced yet. Many teams we played this year reinstated players to play against us, and I am taking a wait and see attitude. The AD would not confirm it. If they do not play, they will get smoked!
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended :tigereye: well that thread only referred to a Buckeye's forum and was not confimed and didn't even mention the 2nd DB being suspended. so this thread is quite different and of much more significance
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended Byrd, Doucet, Toliver, LaFell and Holliday/Mitchell all on the field at the same time. Ouch.
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended Ouch isn't even the word for it .... tOSU is in BIG TROUBLE. I do hope that Hester gets his carriers though. Hope he gets to pound them into submission !!! :crystal: :geauxtige :crystal: :geauxtige :crystal:
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended RP might get more playing time than I previously thought. If we're playing with extra wideouts his (or MFs) legs are going to be used IMO. Props for making him sitout. If it was the coaches decision and not a school issue.
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended OSU is really tough against the run, and fared well against teams with good running games. They did have trouble with Illinois, however, which had abolutely no passing game but that spread was just something they could not handle. I definitely see RP in there 10-15 plays of simply options, delayed runs, etc. Hopefully he gets a play call or 2 where he fakes the run and throws down the field for potentially a really long completion and/or TD. Flynn will still be running in this game, he will not be restricted if he is able to play. We cannot limit ourselves in any way. With either QB in there, OSU has to think we could pass or run and that either QB will take off running at the drop of a Les Miles hat. I would love to see a 1 back backfield with 4 wideouts and some delayed handoffs out of that formation. I just don't think we will be overly effective if we run out of standad run formations (2 TEs, 1 TE/1 FB, etc). Ohio State's front 7 is too good for that.
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended Agreed. Our change of pace backs might seriously impact this game. I'm thinking KW has a monster TD.
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended Ahh, careful now....seems a few of our boys like to break rules now and then also...I seem to recall some curfew violations and other questionable acts just prior to our bowl games...Lets just hope lessons have been learned and we're not reading about our players misbehaving down in sin city...or worse...we see it with our own eyes ....leave the sinnin' to us fans:thumb:
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended If we're all going to treat this as the more significant thread, then my post below is the same one that I posted on the other thread. Others have brought up some good points about how a team has to be deep to win the NC and how we don't want Ohio State blaming a loss on the suspension of one of their two full-time starting CBs. Reading my post below, you can see that Ohio State is pretty deep, just like LSU, and has talent ready to step in to fill for the two suspended players (if they are indeed suspended for the game). ================================================== The official link to that same story by the Columbus Dispatch (the only mainstream daily newspaper for Columbus, OH) is: http://www.columbusdispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2007/12/19/osu_corner.html The article says that: Ohio State starting cornerback Donald Washington and reserve corner Eugene Clifford have been suspended for the national championship game because of a violation of team rules The loss of Washington is significant. ... His absence means redshirt freshman Chimdi Chekwa likely will start [In replace of nickelback Clifford], safety Jamario O'Neal [a junior] now likely will get the nod [in the nickel defense]. ---------------------- Suspended CB Donald Washington is a redshirt sophomore. Nfldraftscout.com currently ranks him the #2 CB prospect for the 2010 NFL Draft (compare to Chevis Jackson, ranked the #10 CB prospect for the 2008 NFL Draft, and Jonathan Zenon, ranked the #13 CB prospect for the 2008 NFL Draft). His likely replacement, redshirt freshman Chimdi Chekwa is ranked the #8 CB prospect for the 2011 NFL Draft. As for suspended nickelback Eugene Clifford, a true freshman, he is ranked the #3 FS prospect for the 2011 NFL draft. His likely replacement, junior Jamario O'Neal, is ranked the #6 SS prospect for the 2009 draft. Pics of #20 Donald Washington:
