I don't know Oregon's offense got worse in most categories this year, He wasn't all that successful at BYU.

Im a bit unsure about Garrett, but he was known as being very cerebral. Eventhough he was on the bench. The thing I fear most with Garrett is I feel its a matter of time before the NFL will come calling. Do we really want to lose another OC in a few years to the NFL or a HC in college?

If we have quality coaches as the OC and DC we will lose them every few years to HC and NFL. I DO WANT coaches that are in demand and are being considered for HC jobs. :)

Which is why, if we get Monken as OC & Applewhite at QB coach it will work out perfectly. Monken wants to be a headcoach & will be within the next 3 years. All the while, we'll be grooming Applewhite as a big time OC.

According to a source, Sonny at Scout says this is looking like how it will work out, which I'm very happy with.

What I was getting at is, you know some assitant coaches are great at what they do. Yet they are just that, assistant coaches. Take Mickey Andrews from Florida St for example. I wouldnt at all mind seeing Monken get the job.

In his first year at Oregon, the passing offense went from #39 in the nation to #9. This year it declined to #26 but the total offense went from #18 to #9. In 2004, a year before Crowton arrived, it was #39. In addition, the scoring offense this year improved from #25 to #12. In 2004 it was #37. The one area where Oregon really saw a decline in its offensive game was in rushing. It went from #14 last year to #74 this year. In 2004 it was #55. So it is not true that his offense got worse this year. Only in rushing did it take a serious nose dive. Passing saw a decline, but out of 119 schools it ended up at #26. In scoring and total offense there were clear improvements. Even with the declines, Oregon is still much better off than it was before Crowton arrived. The indications are that Oregon's offensive trend is definately on the rise.
