It's easy to jump off the bandwagon now, but with Brady's decent recruiting and fair amount of success, I don't think it's time to bump him just yet. This year is disappointing, but if Bertman wants to give him another year, I could live with that. Our lack of solid true point guard play over the years is kind of troubling, but I think Brady probably deserves another year. Compare what Brady has done at LSU to what other coaches have done with their programs. I think winning in college basketball is a tough proposition these days. The very best kids jump to the NBA and the rest of the top notch kids have one foot in and one eye on the NBA before they even start playing college basketball.
Less than 7,000 fans in the PMAC. It didn't take long for the excitement of a final four appearance to fade. 53 points. Ugly, ugly basketball. Benched Minor (again) and Rolle didn't play. Haven't heard if it's Rolle's back or performance that caused him not to play. We can't throw it in the ocean right now. And it doesn't seem like too many fans really care. Sad.
tygertail--it was george mason not GW--honest mistake lp--- i've coached youth bball before. we draft players based on their tryout ratings. well one year i ended up with 3 all stars who came out of nowhere. we dominated other teams. of all the years i coached, it was the easiest one by far b/c of the massive amounts of talent. it's amazing what 3 good players can do (baby-tyrus-d-mitch) brady does well with talent. last year we had tyrus who was a force down low and forced teams to account for him and for baby. most teams couldn't handle both. d mitch was more valuable than most think and was the only player hitting the 3 ball and the only capable point guard. without those guys, we have no point guard, no one who hits 3's consistently, and baby get doubled and tripled b/c no one else can produce offense or distribute the ball. brady has good defensive teams but that's it. eventually you have to score. it seems like if we can't hold a team to the low 50's than we're gonna lose b/c we can't score higher than the 50's. it's on brady b/c he's the one not recruiting shooters. the days of probation are over, with a final 4 under his belt this should have been a year recruits would take notice of the program. for some reason, it didn't happen. glen isn't the same player without help down low and this team lacks chemistry and identity. overall talentwise, they're just an average team. if brady was a great coach then he could take an average team and compete for the SEC. of course, the SEC is crazy this year so who knows...
You're right, but LSU is really beginning to suck. Hope they start producing. I think they have lost some confidence, and they just need to find a way to get it back. Winning would do it.
under cjb, we have 1 final four appearance and 1 sweet 16 appearance. coincidentally, those appearances both happened on the shoulders of 2 lottery picks whom came out of relative obscurity. each and every other year we have done absolutely nothing worth writing home about. the fans have given up on this coach and this team. for the program's sake, he needs to be let go. We can find a HC replacement pretty easily, cause he's right here on the sidelines as we speak. coach john treloar for hc.
The fans aren't stupid. They know that while CJB is the coach, there's no reason to get excited and fill up the stands.
The question is, can LSU compete in today's college basketball. Is it Brady or LSU? Or both? The lack of a point guard is troubling. Brady has had his successes over the years, especially considering the adversity he's faced, but he's had his share of failures as well. Firing him this season seems a little hot-headed, but if he can't get it done next season I think moving in a different direction would be fair. The thing is, does the athletic department care? Is there enough fan interest? Men's basketball seems barely second-fiddle in the eyes of both.
The fans would come in the day CJB was booted. Provided, of course, we don't hire a guy like his clone Kelvin Sampson as a replacement.
