The Times Picayune ran a story on Augustin a couple of weeks ago where he stated he wanted to go to Texas. Katrina or not. There are a lot of good players in this state and I find it hard to believe this staff can not come up with a better answer at point then what we currently have. I mean we go out west and battle schools like Colgate for Voogd. Give me a break.

Sorry but I think you must be joking?
See my posts above and the one by Tigerwins.
This is just a rediculous post!

Your putting all of your eggs in one basket thinking a kid is going to sign
    with you.
Suppose Augustine signs and gets hurt, out for the year and you don't
    recruit any other guards?
Its just tough luck isn't it?

Come on guys, this is *not* a talented team. No way Voogd and Rolle get PT at other SEC schools..

Look as a Brady supporter, I've been critical of his recruiting in the area of guards. Was so even a few years ago, when he signed Neltner's class with Tack and no guard. Then the next year I bitched about signing Temple and no other guards (Terry Martin was one of the better guards in that class, so after the fact, Brady got one there). Then I lamented hard about Ryan Francis one year, when I posted that Brady needed to get this guy as a late season recruit. Then of course there was DJ Augustin and then Scottie Reynolds (which you really can't fault Brady for, given how late he was to the party)--hard ones as well. So, that's why I give this staff a B+/A- recruiting grade instead of an A. But, keep in mind there were plenty of schools that would have loved to land some of Brady's classes, and while some of you would disagree, his recruiting still got us in a position to get to a final four.

Now, this guard shortcoming is obvious with this season, that's why there is such an emphasis on recruiting the next couple of years. And, keep in mind that Nikita Johnson hasn't been on the staff too long. You've got Brady, Pierre and Johnson who are decent recruiters. Brady and Pierre were guards and a little known fact (probably should be publicized more) is that Nikita coached Moochie Norris and Mike James, both two small school guards that made it to the NBA. I hope that these guys get it that we need more recruiting balance--I think they do.

I guess the positives are, many of the guys on the radar screen are guards... J'Covan Brown, Willie Warren, Marcus Thornton, Ray Shipman, and Tommy Mason-Griffin is committed. Hopefully, they've learned their lesson.

:geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU CAN BE A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. DO YOUR PART.

I'm not saying Augustin was a sure thing but IF his family were still here he COULD have stayed...that is a big consideration. Look at Jai Eugene. I know he has a kid and all but he considered his family in the decision to go to LSU.

You also have to look at those others guards LSU had under consideration. They did put alot of effort into the recruitment of Augustin but they also considerded a few others. With Tack coming back for 2006/7 and the heavy recruitment of Augustin there is the likelyhood that no other point wanted to ride the bench for any length of time. Every player wants PT and if it looks like they won't get it at one school they will look toward another.
