Re: LSU 21 ND 14 Half

I hope someone thinks of the possibility of an onside kick to start the second half.

So I heard that Charlie Weis and BQ were inspired by what happened at the end of the BSU/OU game, and after they lose tonight, then CW will propose. They were caught practicing a little earlier today:

Is it just me or has our defense been on the field for an entire freaking quarter. Man our offense is going to have to score every possession if ND has one more long drive. Our Dline is not getting great pressure lately so I hope Pelini makes adjustments. Hopefully Jimbo chills with the WR screens. Howabout a direct snap to ED or Trindon?

We can move the ball at will on their defense. Have run for big gains almost every time, hope we stick with it. and for god's sakes more Keiland!

Bo needs to make some adjustments IMO these running plays are killing me

I'm thinking that both coaches are SORTA doing what they set out to do but both are finding out that the opposite is hurting them.

For LSU, I think it's obvious that we gameplanned to limit Quinn and Samardzija from getting too many big plays. They connected on that TD, but for the most part, they haven't connected on the deep ball.

FOr ND, I think they wanted to control the clock for two reasons: Keeps their defense rested and keeps our offense off the field.

The problem with both of these appent gameplans is that:

1.) Walker is having a better game than what we evidently thought he was capable of. They are sustaining drives because they set themselves up with 3rd and shorts instead of 3rd and long....and they're converting them.

2.) Even though ND is winning the time of possession battle, our offense is still marching down the field and scoring--and our WR's are having big gains.

Here's where the halftime adjustments made will decide the winner. This game is closer than all the "experts" projected, but as close as I feared.

At least we get the ball to start the 2nd half and a scoring drive to open the 2nd half would go a LONG way into keeping us in position to win.

Great half offensively but for the fumble... I am shocked our defense is giving up so much yardage on the ground. I think BO fixes that and we pull away in the second...

Gotta get Daniels in the game ... Francis is killing us. He can't stop the run or pass.

Got to get more pressure on Quinn or this will turn into a shootout in the 2nd half.

IMO a touchdown on this drive (preferably to chew some clock) would pretty much solidify it, they can continue to run with Walker all they want but Quinn is off tonight.
