Maybe a cameo appearance...unless Hatch is a no-go. If that's the case then I'll expect Jefferson for the last half of the fourth quarter if they like what they've seen well enough from Lee.

Focus is for the players to worry about! As fans, we have the luxury of claiming a sure victory simply due to the faith we have in our team.

I agree that there is a THREAT of an upset, but the odds are stacked against Moo U. We'll introduce them to about fifteen future NFL draft picks and remind them of what SEC ball is all about.

I think that we will stay super balanced as always. It may frustrate the fans, but I would not put it past the coaches to stay very vanilla but pass it a lot more than the fans will think we should ("Just give it Scott, DANGIT, we get 15 yards every time!!!"). If the passing isn't going well with Lee, we will keep doing it until the fourth quarter to give him a chance to turn it around. Then if it is still close in the fourth quarter, we move to what works (what MSU gives us) instead of attempting to look as "normal" as possible (banging our head on the wall doing the same vanilla balanced attack). We want to show nothing to UF.

On the contrary, I think it is the 50,000 jigawatt brain power that smoked the hair:wave:

I agree that the thought of showing nothing to UF is nice...but the fact is that they have film on a LOT of Crowton's playbook...be it from last year or this past Saturday's Auburn game. I don't expect vanilla at all. I think Lee might need to be challenged with some complex plays to sharpen his mind. But I'm not the coach.

One thing I don't yet have a grasp on. How is our secondary really playing? Auburn scored 14 points by sustaining drives with long throws to fairly wide-open receivers. Was this just start of the season jitters and mistakes? Are these impending chronic errors? Did Auburn's offense, and it's quarterback, wake up suddenly?

I don't know. If MSU can repeat Auburn's passing success (big if, but Auburn's QB was inexperienced, just like MSUs), then a blowout may not be in the works.

If, however, Auburn just got lucky. Then I could see this getting very ugly very quickly. I think LSU's defense >> Auburn's defense, even considering the DBs. And Auburn shut MSU down.

LaTech and GT both shut MSU down as well!:hihi:

There was a good article on the advocate today about how they are concerned about the big plays and it outlined some of the reasons...one of them being that McCray is still playing on a sore ankle. Jones is still learning the system, according to the article, and then one or two long completions were just the receivers beating their man.

The article also says that when you take out the big plays, Auburn only got 6.8 yards per completion. That means our guys are pretty good tacklers, and it shows promise for the pass D if they can start keeping a man on a man. We'll get there. We're not the Saints! :po:

I thought Hawkins made big improvements from the first 2 games and Auburn. Also Auburn never went after Jai, so he must have been playing good coverage, or they just missed it.

I believe there were 4 big pass plays with busted coverage, and 2 belonged to McCray, 2 to Jones. McCray apparently was hobbled with the ankle(I hope) and Jones just was just out of position. Even so, McCray has been a point of vulnerability in pass coverage in the past, and I expect teams to exploit it. My biggest fear is seeing him line up vs a wr. Hopefully that will change this year.

That why Peterson should be in more, I think he has the tools, we pretty much know what McCray is going to do in coverage.

Yeah but isn't Peterson a projected cb, not a safety? And in McCray's defense, he is monstrous vs the run. Who is rotating in after Jones? Stefoin Francois or Karnell Hatcher?
