Yep, and our azz whippin' at the hands of Florida two weeks ago was a night game. We need to stop being concerned with the kick-off times and wondering whether or not that will make us lose.
Yeah, IN Florida. History shows that we play much better at night in Tiger Stadium, partially due to the fans being extra liquored up and extra rowdy. For some reason, it's easier to get into the game at night for some folks. Either way, the Tigers can't let kickoff time be a factor. If UGA jumps on us quick, that could be a long Saturday... Playing a complete game (two solid halves) WILL be a factor.
And Georgia is the only SEC team that Miles has not beat. So something is definitely going to change...
I would argue that the reason the record is better at night is because day games are usually TV games. TV games are the games that are against the better opponents. Since you are playing better opponents during the day, the record against them is not as good. Having said that, I will now admit that I hate day games in Tiger Stadium. There is no place I would rather be than in Tiger Stadium on a Sat. Nite! I am really hoping that the Bama game is a night game, as I am flying in for that one. Anyway, GA is looking forward to FL, (this is an unfounded rumor we are trying to spread), so I like the Tigers to win at home. GEAUX TIGERS
I looked it up during the offseason. Night games have actually been against teams with better records.
That is interesting. Do you mean that the winning percentage of our opponents at night is higher than the winning percentage of our opponents during the day? Also, do you know how far back that information is going? The reason I ask, is that if it is going back pre-TV, then it is not relavant to the particular point I was trying to make, which was playing high quality opponents on TV is why our day record is worse. Even if you look at the records of the teams at night, it does not mean they were as high a quality opponent as the day games. For example, we have beaten Houston many nights in Tiger Stadium, when they had a winning record, but they are not as high a quality opponent as most of our TV day game opponents are. Of course, I do not mean to place 100% of the cause of the discrepancy to quality of the opponent. Everyone knows that there is a special mystique in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night! It is an amazing place, and I am proud to be a part of it! GEAUX TIGERS PS I popped the question to my lovely wife after the Tigers beat the GA Dawgs on a Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium. It was Oct. 11, 1986, and she was a cute blonde coed, with blue eyes, and big beautiful smile. We won 23-14, and went on to win the SEC. We have been happily married now for 21 years. I often wonder what I would have done that night if we would have lost that game. You know, it was 21 years ago, and I can't help but thinking if I would have killed her back then, and served 20, I would be a free man by now! Ok, that last sentence was a joke, but the rest of it is all true!
I'm just glad we finally have a home game worth getting excited for. It's the end of October for crying out loud. Just wish it was about 5 hours later.
looks like UGA's MLB ellerbe wont play. his backup is playing well though. UGA lost another TE. and a backup DE.
