Listen to the Geaux Show at www.geauxshow.com to heard my prediction, since I have been informed that while under contract with the Geaux SHow I am no longer allowed to make predictions on any other forms of media!
Enough already!! Everybody stop. The man had a bad game playing in the slop against Carolina who currently has the #1 ranked PASS DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY!!! Meaning most QB's have bad games against them. Oh, and we won this game. We were up by 21 before the defense got sloppy late!!! And last week, he completed over 55% of his passes (3 drops by Lafell puts him around 65%) for a hair under 260 yards!! And we won by 25. Go ahead and bring up that Flynn hit a defender in the hands for what should have been a pick, so did RP. And no, don't even come over here with the excuse that RP hadn't warmed up yet. That's the biggest BS excuse I've ever heard. At least a couple times coming in late in releif of JR, Flynn came out and hit a reciever in stride DOWNFIELD for a TD. Against North Texas '05 (on a cold wet night) he hit X-man over the middle for a deep TD. Hit him right in the nubers without him breaking stride!! Against Ole Miss, same year hit Bennie streaking down the sideline in-stride. Both of those were his 1st pass attempt of the game as well. RP looked good against Middle Tenn State (a defense ranked in the hundred and teens against the pass), but it is not his turn yet! Matt Flynn is UNDEFEATED as our starting QB!! And at no point in ANY of the games he's started did I ever feel like we were in Jeopardy of losing. NOT ONCE!! You know why? Because they have all been by a minimum of 2 scores!! Hanging 40 on people!
I wouldn't get so worked up. Go back to just last year and see how many were continually saying Jamarcus sucked and should be benched.
I remember last year well. At least last year, the nay-sayers could point to a couple of LOSSES (neither of which I would place directly on the QB, but we did drop a couple). Which if memory serves me correctly, we don't currently have any of those.
You stole my thunder. Isn't it funny how the back up QB is always the favorite except for the Gators. I don't think the Gators have a backup for some reason because during one of the telecasts of their games I heard they would be in serious trouble if Tivo couldn't play.
There's been a lot of talk in certain sections of the media and on the message boards (both LSU and Florida) about how LSU hasn't played anyone yet (which is a load of crap) and how the Tulane game revealed LSU's status as overrated. Yet, the data continues to prove otherwise. Miss St is a respectable football team, and LSU crushed them. VT is a respectable football team, and LSU crushed them. SC just crushed 5-0 Kentucky and we handily beat SC in the rain with a weakened team. Tulane was our low point. We crushed them in the second half. So, here we are two days from the biggest kickoff in a long, long time. And there are many folks who just won't believe that the defense is THAT GOOD, that Matt Flynn deserves the starting job, and that Miles knows his team. Well, I'm predicting that Crowton shows us the works in this game and the Gators will be grasping at straws. I'm predicting a season best effort from the defense and special teams, maybe not statistically, but considering the opponent, qualitatively. And I'm predicting only 1 Tiger turnover (fumble), but we get 3 Florida turnovers (2 ints, 1 fumble). This is the year, ladies and gents. Florida is our first real test. LSU walks away with the game in the third, and Florida scores a late TD to make the score more respectable than the game really will be. LSU 35, Florida 23 (Matt Flynn and Ryan Perrilloux both have a great game.)
Go back a little further and you'll remember people calling for Matt Mauck to hit the bench and Marcus Randall to start. There may have even been one or two people who wanted Rick Clausen to start at some point! Actually Florida has a big 6'5 backup called Cam Newton. I've heard he's the next great thing but i live in Florida so i hear a lot of garbage pretty frequently. If tradition holds this year i guess we'll get to find out what he's all about. :geauxtige
Yes, you are correct. Tebow's backup is Cameron Newton. He is a 6'5", 245lbs freshman from Westlake, GA. We got to see him play against Tennessee when he scored a touchdown on a 5 yard run where he destroyed Tenn DB Dennis Rogan (5'9", 182lbs) as he went into the endzone. I was sitting right there in that endzone thinking "Wait...who the hell is THAT????" When I saw him, the first person that came to mind was Jamarcus Russell. He is big, but he is a true freshman. We just dont know if he can throw or if he can grasp the offense. But he is big and can run. Dennis Rogan is still trying to get the license plate of the truck. I doubt he will see action against LSU, unless Tebow gets hurt or is playing so incredibly bad that there isnt much point in leaving him in.
