Perhaps Jefferson wasn't ready to play earlier in the season. But when Lee started struggling and with Hatch getting hurt i'm sure Jefferson started getting more and more reps and he is now ready to play a full game.
Here's what I think. Lee is talented and smart but can't put it together on Saturday. JJ is raw and doesn't have the entire playbook yet, but is more of a gamer plus he has decent legs. So, Miles saw that JJ limited his options in terms of the playbook. He thought that Lee's performance in practice would eventually translate to the field. I don't think it's a matter of judging talent. I think it's a matter of young players who are unpredictable when the whistle blows for real.
There is no doubt he has played well but he is still making some mistakes and poor throws. I believe he has grown up and experience is the best teacher. I dont fault miles for wanting to bring him along slow and build his confidence. You dont want to throw him to the wolves as a true freshman. As of now he has been through most of the season and it was the right time. You people need to get a grip and use some common sense. JJ would have had some tough times early in the season. I think he is doing well now because of how they let him get his feet under him.
Also heard during the CBS half time report that Ed Oregeron may be coming in a D-coordinator. That's good news for UT.
this will be my next birthday wish. "I wish all white men would stop saying 'give a shout out to...' especially OLD white men!"
You act as though we have slowly brought JJ along, getting him more and more snaps in successive games. JJ was forced to play due to Lee's injury. He indeed was thrown to the wolves and left to try and survive. Luckily he has answered the bell.
Agree with you there. There wasn't a strategy planned by Miles to bring JJ in at a certain time during the season and worked towards it.
