RPIforecast.com projects us to have a 74 RPI if we go 18-12 and an 86 RPI if we finish 17-13

teams that got into NIT last year included Nebraska with an 89 RPI, Northwestern with an 87 RPI, Ole Miss with an 83 RPI, Washington State with a 82 RPI, Alabama with an 80 RPI, Cal with a 76 RPI, Miami with a 73 RPI

I wish I could be optimistic but I just don't see us making the NCAA without winning the SEC tourney. Or beating Kentucky on the way.

Personally I'd rather see a decent run in the NIT than a "one and done" in the NCAA. If we are to play with the big boys I want some big guns to go into the battle. We just don't have the arsenal yet.

It's gonna be bittersweet watching this team in the NIT. It will be great to get more games, since I love watching this group play, but it makes you look back on the losses to Coastal (upset by VMI in the conf. tourney btw) and S. Alabama and cringe.

Tigers about to lose to Auburn, will finish 17-13 regular season on a 3-game losing streak. Things were looking up at 17-10 with what appeared to be a very winnable final 3 games. Now LSU is limping into the SEC Tourney...

LSU will lose its first SEC tournament game and miss the NIT, which will make it 3 consecutive years outside of the postseason. It's time to make a change. Do it now, Alleva. Go get Shaka Smart and pay him 2 million a year.

That was tough to watch. I hope there is some motivation in the tourney because this team has flattened. Where is Dale Brown?

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. The team is totally flat and uninspired. Time for Trent to go.

I don't think Shaka Smart is leaving VCU anytime soon. He really wants to build something there and is in it for the long haul. VCU did pony up some big bucks to make sure he stays (can't remember the exact amount). I can say this because VCU is my undergraduate alma mater (I attended LSU for grad school) and follow them very closely.

This is not a bash Trent post & I think he will be given another year simply because he is the AD's first hire & he is still very well thought of as a coach. I dont care how good a coach you are if you can't recruit & refuse to hire a assistant who can then your time is gonna be short. This years team is by far Trents best team since he has been here (i'm not counting that first year as that was Bradys boys) &Yes LSU will have its starting five back next year but that just means we will have more of the same that we had this year. In the game against Auburn yesterday our two big men who many say is the strength of this team scored a total of 7 points. :dis: This years recruiting looks fair at best. I do think Morgan will be a good player for LSU but who are we gonna get to go with him. I have been reading on here a lot of rumors & names of players from JUCO's & late bloomers that are not already comitted elsewhere. We gonna have to be lucky for that kind of recruiting to work for us. Recruiting is the name of the game & Trent has not & is not havin much luck in that area. I love basketball & played some in a far away distant time, I hate to see LSU struggling & I just want whats best for the program. Im not sure if Trent is the answer. are you?

I still think this team is underachieving. The talent is there. A combination of youth and chemistry is the biggest issue. I look for much better play next season. We can still get to the NIT with a 1st round win and a good showing against UK...say stay within 15 points. UK is a beast this season.
