One of those NFL scouts/analysts on the Hot List on ESPN radio said he felt strong that Butch would take the LSU job and that his NFL assistant/ former recruiting coordinator would be taken with him. He named who his d-coord would be but I didn't recognize his name and forgot it. I would love Butch to be the next Tiger coach. The SEC would be totally changed from last year.

Not to be pessimistic, but I think I'll bump this old thread.

I say it'll be Kirt Ferentz to Baton Rouge, if only to piss off any Iowa lurkers...LOL.

Nothing that others (inlcuding myself) haven't already posted, but:

    1. Jack Del Rio - if we can pry him away from Jacksonville
    2. Romeo Crennel - I'm pretty sure we can pry him away.

That's my short list. Notice the emphasis on defensive-minded coaches? It was intentional.

Well, now I can bump this bad boy for real.

Someone gimme Jack Del Rio's agent, stat!

Now more than ever kids are coming out of High School looking for coaches and programs that will get them not only to "the next level", but as high a draft position as possible.

Sports Illustrated's recent report that shows Louisiana turns out more NFL talent per capita than ANY OTHER state is just the latest reason why this next hire is so vital.

We've seen the NFL become America's Game over the past 20 years, yet we've seen this deep wellspring of football talent underserved by LSU having one relatively inept coach after another at the helm for most of that time.

The program is as healthy as its ever been, but from the excellent home-grown talent to the money-laden rainmakers that help fund the program's expansion all will look for LSU to make a sound choice in bringing in its next football coach.

Personally, I think there will be a large buyout built into the next deal. Nick got what he wanted from LSU and LSU got what it wanted from Nick, but this program should serve as a stepping stone no more.

We want a great coach, and we want one who wants to stay for a long time to come.

(PS-Brett, perhaps you can change the Got It? to Had it....LOL.)

I like Del Rio but if the Jags make the playoffs, I doubt he even considers it

I know Skip has said he wants a proven head coach, but I just thought I would throw out two names I haven't heard mentioned yet. These are two coordinators who are ready for a HC gig -

    1. Chuck Long - Oklahoma OC, has a great offensive mind and is a terrific recruiter. He is well respected as a coach and is considered by many to be prime HC material.

    2. Bret Bielema - Wisconsin DC, was the DC at Kansas St. when their defense was one of the best in the country, is widely considered one of the best recruiters around and has inroads to furtile south Florida. He is also well respected and could assemble a great staff.
