These are my top 3 – I’m debating on a few others and I guess I’ll include them in order in a later post…

    1. Steve Spurrier – there is no better coach in America in regards to winning and winning fast. There is no doubt in my mind that the position is very attractive to Spurrier and I get the feeling he is monitoring the situation closely. We have what Spurrier likes and demands – we are insanely committed to out program financially, we have one of the finest academic centers for athletes in the country, our facilities are great and getting better, the projects being planned for the next few years make LSU a football amusement park, Louisiana is packed with talent and LSU has no competition in-state for top recruits, the cupboard is stacked with talent right now, the top QB prospect in the nation is floating around, on and on. Also, Spurrier doesn’t give a crap – the man does exactly what he wants to do and although walking out on SC would be unprecedented, you can’t put it past Spurrier (especially with a relatively painless buyout option). At the very least, I think Spurrier should be contacted to open a line of communication that may work in our favor down the line – just like the way LSU talking to Butch Davis 5 years ago works in our favor today.

    2. Jack Del Rio – he has roots in Louisiana and maintains a home in New Orleans. His wife is a Louisiana native and his eldest daughter is an LSU alumna. He has won a Super Bowl Ring, coached one of the games all-time best in Ray Lewis, he has drafted and developed one of the NFL’s brightest young stars in Julius Peppers, and he has made a name for himself. Although it would require leaving behind a much improved team that is gaining momentum and establishing their identity, Jack Del Rio is one of the few guys around with a firsthand understanding of what this job means and how big of a deal it is – what I’m getting at is the fact that Del Rio can understand and comprehend the long-term benefits of the LSU job that will far outweigh anything the NFL can ultimately offer him. He is one, if not the only, NFL head coach with job security that would see the LSU job as a better opportunity and a step up for the long haul. The man is young, fearless, hard working, intense, defense-minded, a player favorite and one hell of a coach with credibility on every level (he played in college, he played in the NFL, and he’s coached in the NFL). If Jack Del Rio came to Baton Rouge he would be committed to LSU for as long as LSU would be committed to him.

    3. Norm Chow – the man is brilliant and he should be interviewed at the very least. His resume reads like a hall of fame ballot and his success can’t be ignored. He hasn’t been a head coach to date – so what. Results outweigh experience in this case. Interview him, feel him out, establish why he hasn’t taken other jobs and go from there. Not interviewing Norm Chow would be irresponsible IMO. The man needs to be contacted – especially if Muschamp expresses a desire to stay in BR for some reason.

Mention of the following names as LSU’s next coach range from absolutely ridiculous to clinically insane…
Dennis Erickson – this guy is a total clown, a character nightmare, and he’s like the Edwin Edwards of coaching. He is always a viable candidate for any opening, but he’s a time bomb. Lately, he destroys everything he touches. Not even worth consideration IMO.

Tommy Bowden – I’m not sure if this started as a joke or what, but this is completely laughable. LSU is not in the market for mediocrity. I also can’t understand why we would entertain the idea of grooming his old man’s replacement. Tommy Bowden is a clown who was on the hot seat at midseason. Anyone on the hot seat of a second rate program is not LSU material in 2005.

Bobby Petrino – yes, Louisville has an amazing offense. However, almost defeating Miami and being mentioned by the media for every coaching vacancy does not make the guy an exceptional hire by any stretch of the imagination. I like Petrino, but the guy is one career opportunity away from being Tommy Bowden (see above). Petrino is a liability IMO and I think we should steer clear at this point in his career.

Tommy Tuberville – anyone need memory pills? From lack of performance to lack of personal attributes, this guy has little to stand on outside of 2004. The answer is NO.

Mike Price – this is a pathetic. I can’t even comment on the idiocy of this.

Boise State Coach – I’m not even posting his name because “Boise State Coach” should make my point just fine.

I think the best way to hire the wrong coach is to hire on the success of the last two seasons. We need longevity and we need someone with credibility. We are finally in a position to demand nothing less than pure excellence and proven effectiveness. Win / Loss records are not always the best way to evaluate success and I hope we roll up our sleeves and look deep within each candidate. I think many of the other schools have hired coaches based on popularity and very recent success.

THIS IS LSU – WE WILL NOT THROW CRAP AGAINST THE WALL AND SEE WHAT SICKS. OUR NEXT COACH WILL PULL THE SWORD FROM THE STONE BECAUSE HE’S QUALIFIED AND IMMENSELY CREDIBLE. THIS IS L-S-U…

We are not simply attempting to replace Spurrier the way Florida did, we should hire the long-term future of this program upon Nick Saban's departure and never look back for anything other than memories...

    coaching candiates

Tuberville- no cannot trust him. He screwed Ole Miss and from what i inderstand he called lsu and wanted the job at lsu when they hired saban. Also i understand he done it again. Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neuheisel- HELLLLLLLLLLLL knaw. We would be in trouble with the NCAA
faster than anyone can say Mississippi State.

Here is what you do listen up everybody

if saban leaves which it looks like like he is, that day he leaves thank him for the job he's done at LSU and then take that fine jet that LSU has and fly it LOU.Kentucky and go get Bobby Petrino. Folks I dont care what he has said. If lsu offers him a Nick Saban type contract. He will tell LOU. to kiss his ass Im gone. Lets see coach in the SEC or the big east. Gee humm. and I know he turned down Ole Miss but its OLE Miss.

If not him Butch Davis. He says that he is taken the year off but give him an offer he cannot refuse, he will change his mind.

I will say this If saban leaves Petrino or Davis will be our next coach mark it down.

but i will say this not candiates for the LSU job
    1. Neuheisel
    2. Tuberville
    3. Jimbo fisher
    4. Mike Riley- what the hell is he ever done. That would be an insult to LSU and saban.
    5. Pat Hill- from Fresno St. Oh God give me a break.

    Petrino

Petrino has won everywhere he's gone. He was Auburn offensive Cord. for one year and look what happened to their offense the year he was there. THey were playing a new years day bowl game.

He goes to Lou. and turns that program into an offensive jugger knot that know one wants to play. Just ask Miami. There ass was whipped on THursday Night and Miami came back because there Miami.

Its an insult to put Petrino's name right next to tommy Bowden. shame on who ever made that statement. Petrino would run laps around Bowden. Petrino is such a better coach than Bowden.

LSU is too good for Houston Nutt right now. I know that sounds awful, but that is absolutely the truth...

I think he does a good job considering the talent he has to work with.

I said that to a big Arkansas fan and he told me "well y'all can take him then." He has a losing record in the SEC.
