If Nick Saban leaves LSU for Miami he will take the farm with him. His top lieutenants will follow him to Miami...

Mike Price is growing on me. Look what he did with Washington State and now look what he has done in his first year at UTEP. Plus, we get him at a discount, because of strippergate.

IF Coach Saban leaves (and this is by no means even close to being confirmed, so chill people), this is my order of candidates for replacement:

    1) Dan Hawkins, Boise State head coach
    2) Norm Chow, USC off. coordinator
    3) Jimbo Fisher, LSU off. coordinator
    4) Will Muschamp, LSU def. coordinator
    5) Rich Rodriguez, West Virginia head coach

Others worth looking at: Butch Davis (former Miami and Cleveland Browns HC) Bobby Petrino (Louisville HC) Tommy West (Memphis HC) Chuck Amato (North Carolina State HC) Walt Harris (Pittsburgh HC)

Coaches we need to stay away from:

Dennis Erickson- A good college coach, but the poor fella, he really, really wants to coach in the NFL, and thinks he can do it, but he just can't. If we hire him, and he wins (which he would) he will ALWAYS be tempted by the NFL. We don't need that, especially for a coach who, while good, is not as good as Saban.

Any other dyed-in-the-wool NFL guys (for same reasons above)

Mike Price- It's too soon after the stripper scandal. Five more years of him winning a lot in a very obscure place (which UTEP is), and I'd take him. But believe me, after what happened at Alabama, this guy is spotlight-shy, and he wanted to get as far away from the SEC as he could get. He needs a little more time to prepare himself for his next shot at the bigtime, so he'll handle it better.

Rick Neuheisal- Left Colorado tainted (I'm convinced he bears some of the blame for the "culture of rape" that was allowed to take root there). Left Washington in ruins. No thank you.

Mike Riley- I'm not convinced he can be a bigtime head coach yet. Oregon State needs to get back to where they were when Erickson left before I'm sold on his ability to maintain high-level success for years on end. Hard to do at Oregon State? Sure. But really good head coaches win where winning is not easy. So that's the standard I'm holding him too.

In no particular order I would love to see as the next LSU head coach:

    Norm Chow
    Bobby Petrino
    Steve Spurrier
    Rich Rodriguez
    Jeff Tedford
    Kirk Ferentz

Others that are intriguing possibilities, but I have nagging doubts:

    Muschamp, Fisher, or even Dooley
    John Gruden
    Ralph Friedgen
    Mike Price
    Mike Riley
I don't like him either but we could do worse than Tubby(see below)

    And please God, NO!:
Tommy Bowden - please tell me he is not a serious candidate
    Jim Hasslett
    Tommy West
    Dennis Erickson
Rick Neuheisel - highly overrated retread
    Chuck Amato

Please tell me LSU is not seriously considering Tommy Bowden. He has taken Clemson nowhere.

How does Gruden's name keep coming up? Is there any chance he'll be fired?

As an AU fan, I'll answer it slightly different:

    LSU coaches I would fear:
    Norm Chow
    Steve Spurrier (no possible chance)

LSU coaches that would concern me:
    Jeff Tedford
    Jon Gruden
    Romeo Crennel

LSU coaches I would not be overly concerned about:
    Bobby Petrino
    Muschamp/Fisher

LSU coaches I would be either drooling about or laughing about:
    Kirk Ferentz
    Derrick Dooley
    Ralph Friedgen
    Mike Price
    Mike Riley
    Tommy Bowden
    Jim Hasslett
    Tommy West
    Dennis Erickson
    Rick Neuheisel
    Chuck Amato

LSU has no possibility of getting Spurrier, Richt, Tuberville, Stoops, Carroll
