I think the best possible combination for LSU would be Norm Chow - HC/OC, Muschamp - DC... Chow is the kind of coach that can MAKE a qb, he did it at byu and now at usc... also think about all the gimmick plays that have been givng bush the chance to shine. Let him have a chance to put the X-man and S. Green in position to make big plays... and then muschamp keeps the D goign in the right direction and tries to keep some of the recruits.

LSU is one of the Top 3 programs in America right this moment. We have no choice but to go big in replacing Coach Saban (if "it" happens).

USC does not need a coach. OU does not need a coach. LSU might...

Spurrier is the best coach in college football in terms of winning and winning fast. Stoops ain't leaving Norman. Spurrier will leave SC if he feels like it.

With the program in the shape it is and with the projects being planned for the next several years, THIS IS THE BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL POST IN THE NATION. WE MUST HAVE NOTHING BUT THE BEST AVAILABLE COACH, PERIOD - Spurrier is that man...

I wish we could borrow Emmert to help make this decision. He is pretty good at this.

    Rick Neuheisel?

Alright guys, I'm new here but lets slow down and think about this for a minute. Rick Neuheisel has left giant problems at each of his last two coaching gigs at CU and UW. Both programs have been investigated by the NCAA during or shortly after his reign. I agree the guy can coach but we don't need that crap here at LSU. :helmet:

Also, Bringing a current NFL head or assistant coach here is just going to put us in the exact same situation as we are in now. In two or three years we would be looking for a coach again.

Personally I think a guy like a Bobby Petrino would be a great fit. Butch Davis would do a good job also, I just have concerns about his charecter after the way he left UM and lied to his players and phoned in his goodbye. I think it is important that we get a guy who can coach but we also need to get a guy with some charecter!

Names like Kirk Ferentz are solid and would be a home run get for LSU but since he just asked for and received a pretty big contract extension and has made multiple public comments about wanting his family to have a long term home in IA I don't see that one happening. Plus, he was a player/assistant coach there under Hayden Fry so he has a historical tie to the area, school, and Big-10 conference.

With the exception of Tubberville (lay off the meth :D ), I really like this list, especially Romeo Crennel. I know he might not be the most popular choice, but I think the emphasis should remain on defense since it's what's set us apart of everyone esle. I think Saban and Crennel run similiar defensive schemes (but we all know Saban is the master), os hopefully there would not be much drop off. His recruiting skills are unproven, so that's a big question mark.
