Thanks for making my point...See, I knew you were smart...You keep talking about that UF/UM game like it matters towards LSU's preparation for the NCG...It doesn't...I just threw that tidbit out there just to prove a point that it doesn't matter...The 6-2 SEC record and the 3-4 Big Ten record ocurred during exhibition games...They don't matter, only to fans, bowl organizers and universities which make millions from it...There is nothing from any of the 31 other bowl games that will help LSU beat OSU.

Not sure how saying "Michigan was an underdog" (The only reference to UM in the post ), is me keeping on talking about it. And I agree it doesn't matter, that's why i was confused by that interjection.

Technically, Tennessee finished 2nd in the SEC, but everyone knows they were the 4th or 5th best team in the conference behind LSU, UGA, UF and maybe Auburn.

Wisky vs UTenn was a pretty even match-up, but the SEC team pulled that one out.

UM vs UF (talent wise) was a pretty even match-up, but the BIG-10 team pulled that one out. Before everyone goes crazy on this comment, UM was preseason #5 and their talent showed during their 8-game winning streak, and against UF.

The reason everyone says the SEC is the best conference is NOT because our best team(s) are the best in the country. The reason the SEC is considered the best by most people is because the bottom half of our conference is better than the bottom half of all the other conferences.

    Case in point:
We sent 9 teams to bowl games and are 6-2 so far.
Miss St- our 6th or 7th best team, beat the Conf USA Champions
UGA - our 2nd or 3rd best team, destroyed the WAC Champions
Bama won their bowl game against a team that finished in a similar position in the Big 12
Auburn (our 4th or 5th best team) won their bowl game against the 3rd best team from the ACC
Tennessee won their bowl game vs a solid Big 10 team
Kentucky won their bowl game vs a team from the ACC that finished in a similar position

Arkansas - our 6th or 7th best team, was matched up against a top 10 team, who lost the Big 12 title game and should have been in a BCS game.
Florida - our 3rd or 4th best team, lost to the 2nd or 3rd best team from the Big 10.

Then, we still have South Carolina, and Vandy out there. I would put those teams against Stanford/Washington, Minnesota/Northwestern, Baylor/Iowa St, and/or Duke/ NC State (Teams at the bottom of their conferences).

Not buying those two. There are at least 2-3 teams in any major conference that would have exposed Hawaii.

I wouldn't be bragging on a Kentucky win over a team that was missing 35 players. With everyone, it appeared to me that Florida State would have walked away with that one.

It would be more impressive if Kentucky and Georgia had walked away from wins against valid opponenets. I know, not their fault but still not impressive.

That's a bit of a stretch in itself. Besides Ohio St., who from the Big 10 would have exposed Hawaii. Michigan? Wisconsin? I don't think their defenses are good enough to get the kind of pressure of Colt Brennan that UGA did.

Oklahoma or Mizzou from the Big 12? Had OU been matched up against Hawaii, we would all be talking about how OU was outclassed and outplayed by a mid major for the second consecutive year.

USC obviously. Anyone else from the Pac 10? None of them play good enough defense.

West Virginia? This game would be a shootout. Think 56-53.

And lastly, the ACC. Va Tech would be able to get after Hawaii much like UGA did, but their offense would not put up enough points to truly expose them.

My bad, I wasn't that clear, I meant you in the plural sense, as in all the people that have been making a big deal about that.

All good. I agree people are making too big a deal out of it, though I have to say I was pleased with the game, and think it shows how to deal with an agressive defense, but it wasn't tOSU or LSU, so has no direct bearing.

Is it just me or does Jim Tressel look like he should be telling me I have the flu in a white coat rather than coaching football?:crystal:
