:geaux: :crystal: :helmet: All hail the LSU Tigers!!!!! What a wonderful team and coach we have!! We couldn't ask for better. They gave us many heart attacks and anxious moments this year, more than we wanted probably, but they were awesome. I have never seen a team that absolutely refused to give up or quit figting like our Tigers. They could have many times during this season and absolutely refused to do so. They have made us proud beyond measuring. Thank you Coach Miles and the 2007 Bayou Bengals for everything you did this year. We are so proud of you!!!
Nick Saban's ghost has left the building!! :geauxtige :champs: :LSU231: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal:

I havent seen this posted anywhere so let me ask: Have you seen the excuse that some (please note some, not all) Big-10 ers are using for their recent lack of success and the SEC's recent success? Basically they are claiming that the SEC (they are even throwing in USC) will always win away games and bowl games because we "refuse" to play in cold climates. They often go on to say that these teams are always playing a home game in their bowl games because all of the major bowls are in the souther part of the U.S. Im not taking anything away from the many good sports I have seen here and on other boards, but to the people making this excuse, what grounds do you have?

Personally I feel these people would have much more of a basis for an argument, if they played at all after mid-November. I just want to get some of your opinions on that, so let me know.

I agree this is a lousy excuse. While I do think it might help a little bit (See the packers record in GB in colder temps), the basis for the argument is that the lines are built a little different, as you must compete within your conference and if weather is an issue in the B10, then you have to prepare to win your conference first. I see the logic, but think it's a lousy, lousy excuse. There is no doubt in my mind that LSU would be very good in the big ten, regardless of how cold and miserable it is.

In their defense, they did basically play (at least) 5 "away" games:

    Purdue/Cent Michigan - in Michigan
    Penn St./ATM - in Texas
    Michigan/Florida - in Florida
    Illinois/USC - in Southern California
    OUS/LSU - in Louisiana

But the reason, however I don't think has anything to do with Southern teams "refusing" to play in cold weather. It has more to do with fan being more likely to travel from Cold climates to Warm Climates, and plan their vacations around that.

    And there you have it....

As the college game moves towards a playoff system, you may see home field advantages, just like they now do in the pros and Div I-2A, etc., which will cause a Florida, say, to have a first round game at Penn State.
I've never thought where the bowl games are played is all that big of a deal, but I do know, cuz I travel this country so much, that where you live causes your blood to be either thick or thin... and when a Southerner goes north he feels colder than a northerner... the same with the heat factor when the Yanks come south.
    Domed stadiums are an equalizer.

It is sooo Great to be a TIGER FAN! This Team has so much character - WOW! Academy Sports in Laffayette can't keep CHAMPIONSHIP GEAR on the shelves. My Local Guy ( Baldwin, La. ), Henry Coleman, looked like next years ALL AMERICAN in place of Steltz. ( Felt bad for Steltz though ) LSU and Georgia 1\2 in the Final A.P. POLL. Go SEC! espn Talking Heads don't even have us in the top 5 for next year--- but I'm too Happy to Care right now!:geaux::crystal: :geaux: :crystal: :geaux::crystal: Read' em and Weep!
