So, we had a pretty big day yesterday. I think we’re basically viewed as the #4 class right now (behind Bama, UGA, and neck-and-neck with aTm). Got a big NG from Utah (Apu Ika), 4-star OL from Michigan, two bad ass RBs, 5-star OL from BRLA, #1 player in the nation (Stingley, CB out of BRLA), two 4-star LBs, a 4-star WR and QB, and a 4-star athlete out of MS named Radar Jones. Orgeron did a good job keeping the in-state guys we wanted; 4 of top 5, 6 of top 10, with Sopsher and Lee, 60% and 90% likely to sign, NSD decisions; so potentially 8 of top 10. Lost two UHIGH LBs (#7 and #10 in-state) to Clemson and Bama, respectively. Someone said we got the #2 kicker in the nation also, which is pretty sweet. And a long-snapper from our long-snapper pipeline in GA (3rd guy in a row from Buford High).
I once read where 'Bama wins the SEC Championship on NSD! Lot of truth to that. Interesting SEC has four top classes. That should drive a stake in the heart of we are not the best football conference!
It’s amazing the disparity in ESPN rankings and that of sites like Rivals and 24/7. I figured out right away who was more reputable when their scouting report for Derrick Stingley, who they list as the #2 CB and number 20-something in the class as lacking ideal height...a legitimate 6’1 CB lacks ideal height. Then they listed the CB ahead of him (an Oregon commit) who’s 5’11 as having ideal height. I must not have been the only one who noticed because they took down the other guys scouting report a short while later. Meanwhile, Stingley is rated the top CB on everyone else’s site and is a possible #1 overall on a few, including Rivals. Anyway, great haul yesterday! Now to pull in the Sopsher 2...
LSU #4 class in 247 composite rankings. And that's with 6 spots still to be filled. 91.39 average rating, which is excellent. The ultimate success will be to land the massive 5 star DT from Louisiana, but Satan plans on nabbing him. Please dear Lord kid, do the right thing.
