Signing day is Wednesday February 7th. LSU has 22 commitments (20 were signed in the early period or enrolled early) thus far and look to pull in two more very high profile recruits. LSU is currently ranked 12th in 247sports composite team rankings and have a shot to finish in the top 10. The final push should yield the following two players: CB Patrick Surtain, Jr. (#5 nationally) WR Jamarr Chase (#84 nationally) That would yield 265.99 points. The average points for LSU over the past 12 recruiting seasons is just over 275, just to give a point of reference. Another slight surprise signing could get us pretty close to that 275 mark. Last year 266 points would have ranked us 9th and this year could still leave us at the 12th spot. Competition for the top 10 is as good as I have ever seen it this year. Surtain and Chase would get us to: 2 five star 12 four star 10 three star Other 4 star potential signees are: CB Mario Goodrich (#114) My projection is Clemson QB James Foster (#271) My projection is FSU If LSU can't get that 25th recruit, then a preferred walk on kicker just recently signed will likely be in line to get that scholarship.
Only getting 2 would be a disappointment, especially without pulling in a QB. I guess this finish would have me grade the season as a whole at C-. Worse than that would be a D+. If we got 3 top flight recruits, maybe that would push the season to a C.
We will have 3 of the top 41 recruits if we get Surtain. Only a handful of teams will have outdone us in that department.
Heard an interview with Surtain's father yesterday. Seems like junior is still torn between LSU and Alabama. Daddy don't let your babies grow up to be gumps.
