Not trying to show you up or anything Bhelm because I appreciate all your info but I don't think its the navicular bone. The navicular bone is in the foot, the bones in the hand (wrist area) are the scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum, pisiform, trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, and hamate. If its a slow healing bone then I would guess that it would be the lunate or scaphoid. Most likely the scaphoid because it has very vulnerbale anatomy because it has no periosteum or muscle attachments and it has complications with healing because it does not have good blood supply. Signs incluse decrease wrist flexion and extension due to the scaphoid unable to move. The only reason I know this is because I am having a test on this today in Physical therapy school in Florida. I finally saw a topic I might be able to help out with. Anyways hope this helps out. :crystal::tigereye:
To further confuse things, here's a link to an article that says Yao Ming broke the Navicular bone in his foot and may be out for all of next season and maybe more. Rockets could lose Yao for season, if not longer - NBA - Yahoo! Sports Anyway, I hope Loston's navicular bone heals better and faster than Yao's !!
The term is used for both bones in the hand and foot. The term is being phased out for the hand and the scaphoid term is the more common name for the bone.
Four years of LSU Dental school down the drain!!:hihi:. I really did go there. But in my third year, I was in a horrible auto accident and the car flipped over and smashed my hand between the car and the street. I had all kinds of surgery on my wrist and I had to have one of the bones removed. Nope , not the Navicular/scaphoid......the Hamate !! That's why I'm not on the "drill team". (ps) I was a cook through most of my education ... and returned to it full time.
Logan was cleared last week. Hicks was cleared today. Tahj should be cleared by Thursday or Friday. Loston not far behind according to Miles.
Great news, with this class it was so important everyone got cleared, this is a great group that has the potential to do a lot of good things.
Loston's not going to play this year anyway, he's having wrist surgery that would keep him out regardless.
I think he'd be healed in the middle of season. Doesn't hurt to have that option. I don't want him getting sour and deciding to enroll at another school too...
