Sam Montgomery is on campus working out with the team. There were some rumblings that he might be at the line to qualify but sounds like he is good to go.
Loston is cleared by Clearinghouse and will report to LSU on Monday. However, he has a broken bone in his hand that will keep him out for at least 3 months after surgery.
During his senior season. It is the navicular bone which is the slowest healing bone in the body from what I understand and it can get really complicated if goes untreated. It will require a temporary screw.
Stinks that the kid probably couldn't afford to have surgery until he was on scholarship. More importantly, it is great to have him afold now though!
Don't think that was the case. But more so that the injury is not a painful one but can cause major complications later on in life. The LSU staff is encouraging him to get it out of the way now because it is only a 3 month rehab. He could still come in and play if we need him next year but I hope we keeps the redshirt on both because we have the position covered and he gets an extra year of development.
I did not get that from a source, just my educated guess. I asked my MD brother about the specific injury and thought it would be a bad move for him not to get it taken care of now rather than later. Don't want this kid potentially sitting out while the eligibility clock is running.
