I just needed anyone to say that Gonzo has no shot. CBSSports, FoxSports, SI, yahoo, etc. I don't care. To promote your passing game coordinator that was responsible for what transpired out on that field would be mind boggling.
Well I'll say this, Dodge and Malzahn are very similar in their approach to offense. One guy made better choices about his career, the other tried to improve his lifestyle and still stay close enough to watch his son play his last year of HS football at a school that dominated for several years at the highest level in Texas. The HS playoffs in Texas are almost like another season and have 2 additional rounds that don't exist in LA due to the number of teams. What Dodge did at SL is a fact, the fact he had several QB's in a row win POY in Texas is a testament to his coaching. The guy also played the position in college at Texas. He was never an NFL type player or even that good of a college QB but he is very good coach. Les Miles would have been fired at UNT after 4 years and so will the next UNT coach.:geaux:
How about Jay Paterno who's part of the Joe Paterno coaching tree. Jay's been a successful QB coach at PSU. He's coached to very good college dual threat QB's in Daryl Clark and Michael Robinson. I think he could have a lot of success with Jordan Jefferson. Paterno also serves as co-offensive coordinator. There's been talk up at PSU that Jay needs to prove himself as a OC somewhere else before he's given the reigns of head coach succeeding his father.
Justin Fuente, Co-OC, TCU Has experience as QB Coach as well. Turned Andy Dalton into a pretty good QB. Balanced attack.
Gonzales is having lunch with Coach Miles today!! I am sure they are talking about how to run the new gonzo O
Yeah, they're probably talking about days past (2010 season) and how dominant we were passing all over the field.
