lets start with making a law that says babies born to illegals do not get automatic citizenship. only children born to legal immigrants get automatic citizenship. i know thats probably a rant for another thread, but somehow it tied in when it popped into my mind.
I did math. yeah, yeah.....:dis:....I actually looked that up after finding this article and found it was probably biased but the point is, the 62% number is not correct either as it includes people who go bankrupt with small bills that probably had little or nothing to do with it. The number is somewhere in between the two.
Quoting Tirk but in response to Red So here's the rough math. 47 million uninsured. Less 10 million are not americans. Less 14 million who have insurance if they would just sign up for it. Less the people who can afford insurance but choose not to get it. I projected this number at everyone over 75k in earnings. It won't be all of those people but there will be people between 50k and 75k who could afford it as well. So that's 9 million. 47-10-14-9= 14 million Americans who do not have health insurance or a reasonable way to get health insurance. The population of the United States is 306 million with some number of non american's, I have no idea how many but if it's 26 million that brings us to 280 million americans. That would give us 5% without insruance, or a reasonable way to get insurance, or 95% of insured Americans. Are my numbers wrong?
close enough. some of those numbers are a couple years ago but it doesnt really matter beyond the fact that health care here is some of the greatest in the world if not the best in most cases. the problem is not the five or ten percent without coverage as much as it is escalating and unsustainable health costs. which moreso involves fixing the economy. the true problem. yet here we are screwing it up even worse under the guise of health care. interesting article: U.S. Cancer Care Is Number*One - Brief Analysis #596
I don't think anything would be deemed unaffordable under this administration. This is part of the problem I have with Obama. Forget over a hundred years of fundamental, proven underwriting practices. Forget economic principles that have been in play ever since there was money changing hands. Let's just redistribute so everybody gets a piece of the pie.
I don't think anybody has a complete plan...that's why I believe we should take our time and not cram this down the taxpayer's throat. I don't personally have a "complete" answer but I think "my" plan sounds better than Obama's. MY PLAN: Step 1 - eliminate the Democrats  Step 2 - deport ALL illegal aliens :thumb: Step 3 - enact tort reform Step 4 - kill "cap & trade" and use more Louisiana natural gas (revenue!) Step 5 - cap social programs ($ amount & duration) (efficiency!) Step 6 - promote healthy lifestyles and exercise Step 7 - give Mastermind $1M (if he survives Step 1) :hihi: CHANGE NOW! Step 8 - make purchasing health insurance mandatory or refuse treatment for those who can afford it but choose to receive free care instead Step 9 - prosecute anyone (health care provider, insurance company, or individual who takes advantage of the system) Step 10 - keep it private and avoid socialism Step 11 - give me a free limetime membership to the Playboy Mansion to promote cardiovascular exercise! Somebody else can write the rest of the plan...
Whoa, there is a stretch. You have no numbers at all for it. Lots of us make over $75K and cannot do without insurance. That is 9 billion bogus people you are counting. Your math is correct, but you are making up statistics! You can arrive at any number you want if you play by those rules.
Soooo, . . . you're not going to offer any actual numbers then? Sorry. Over a hundred years of fundamental, proven underwriting practices and economic principles that have been in play ever since there was money and big insurance still contributed to the financial collapse and still sucks at the federal tit like a big hog.
