Those numbers are not significantly different from the preceding generation and the succeeding one, though. More boomers are retiring early than their parents generation. I am retiring this year at 56. That is to say that I am retiring from my professional career. Like many others I will still do some work . . . consulting, manage rental property and sell some timber. So I'll be retired, but not idle and still earning income (actually more income), just on a part-time basis around my retirement activities. Retirement is fuzzy for a lot of people.
I retired a little younger than you, but like you stay busy, too busy. Fuzzy? Mine is clear, too clear. One friend calls me, "The Busiest Retired guy he knows." But now I'm doing things I like.
So what does that mean? Population for what country or state? So there are 7000 more people than four years ago. So what?
This is the number of people who are 16 years of age or older, not active military and who are not institutionalized. The chart focuses upon the Obama Administration’s time in office from January 2009 to February 2012. As you can see, in the three years that Obama has been president, the civilian population has grown by about 7.7 million people to 242,435,000.

Come on, red. It's clear that Obama is impregnating our women by the truckload just so the illegitimate offspring can live off of the government.
