1. You should go over there and do everything you can to show them your support. WE damn evil Americans! We should all pay for what we have done to the rest of the world!

I'll send flowers to your funeral.
  2. That's the attitude that's going to lead to another big hole in the ground. If there was no trial, who determined their innocence? Who says they weren't harboring terrorists? Nah, just let 'em go and hope that they have been converted by all the nicey nicey talk?
  3. Where is the link for the article?

It does not prove your point and the only named "source" does not say that some are just farmers. The farmer comment came from the "classified intelligence report".
  4. if you torture you are a terrorist.

the hilarious (sadly hilarious) thing is not that the US is using torture like unscrupulous countries, but that the US is using it to try to get good info. at least the unscrupulous countries are smart enough to know that you cant get reliable info from torture, but you can get false confessions.
  5. I would attack your source...the la times...but it's way to easy to just attack the substance of the article. 99% of the authors claims come from unnamed sources. There is zero investigative merit to the article. No one has ever claimed that every detainee is/was a terrorist. I took the meaning of your original post...

...to mean that not everyone held there were bad people since, again, no one ever said they were all classified as terrorist. The article does not, in any way conceivable, prove that a lot of people being held were innocent of any wrong doing.
  6. Did you learn that from some movie, or are you professionally trained to extract information from someone?

What we do comes nowhere even close to what our enemies do...and what we do is done to protect American lives. Obviously that means nothing to you since you're so quick to condemn us and defend them.
  7. So an unnamed source isnt credible just because you say it isnt? Thats the easiest part of your argument to attack.
But I think we are going in circles, I never said alot of people were not terrorist, I said not everyone held there were terrorist, which that article proves without naming its sources.
  8. various sources. what do you not believe? are you under the impression that the US was waterboarding ksm and zubeda to get false confessions? im pretty sure they were trying to get good info. are you under the impression that waterboarding gets reliable info? a strong majority of experts dont think it does.

i'll buy that (see, you dont have to prove everything), but im not disparaging the US's motives, just its implementation.
  9. You've seen too many movies. "Harsh" interrogation techniques
handled by professionals can extract reliable information. Don't believe all of the hogwash that passes for expert commentary these days.
