this one by the urban institute seems respectable but still probably biased. in summary, it says "# The cost of a single death sentence in Maryland is approximately three times higher – or $1.9 million more – than the costs of a comparable non-death penalty case, even taking into account the costs of long-term incarceration. # The cost for prosecutors to seek but not get a death sentence is $670,000 more ($1.8 million total) for a single case than for a comparable non-death case – for the same outcome of a life or long-term prison sentence. # When the death penalty is imposed, the court costs alone jump to almost seven times higher ($1.7 million compared to $250,000)." http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/CostsDPMaryland.pdf
I'd like to win the Powerball but I'm not holding my breath. Once the egg is fertilized, tough for the ho. If you want to abort a non living thing, abort the sperm in the business end of a condom.
then you should tell the ladies that they are often aborting zygotes with their birth control pills. even in the constant presence of birth control pills, ovulation occurs a significant % of the time (something like 5-10%).
Infants require assistance from someone, but they are independent beings and can live without their mother.
This is true. More babies have been aborted by versions of the pill with an abortifacient failsafe than by abortion doctors. This to me is the greatest hypocricy the pro-life movement faces. Many people who are anti-abortion contracept, and at the end of the day there is no difference.
so as long as youre not ok with abortion until fetuses are viable (about 25 wks), then it seems like a reasonable position. i always get back to the fact that, once fertilized, it will become a human if you dont do something to stop it. its funny because im strongly for active-euthanasia (and very much opposed to passive-euthanasia if it is not the wish of the individual.)
ISTR being taught roughly 20% of pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion, often undetected, and that's got nothing to do with birth control pills. It's just nature. Here's a link to back that up: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia: Miscarriage It is estimated that up to half of all fertilized eggs die and are lost (aborted) spontaneously, usually before the woman knows she is pregnant. Among those women who know they are pregnant, the miscarriage rate is about 15-20%. Do those poor misbegotten zygotes go to heaven too?
