He also routinely gets props for his administration's work in Africa.

    And....that's about it.

BTW: amazing how little is being said about Iraq now, isn't it. Wonder why that is?

I guess I am a bit clueless about the work he has done in Africa, maybe Humanitarian work. Because the biggest sores in Africa, one of which Bush is actually talking to a oppressor, is Darfur. Also, Nigeria oil crisis, Congo, and South Africa. He hasnt done anything about those problems, since he is a liberator of the people.

American (Bush administration) aid to Africa dwarfs the rest of the world's developed nations. He's directly confronting AIDS in Africa as well as other forms of aid. I apologize in advance for Bush's personal failure to solve all of the problems caused there by France, et al. :rolleye33:

I'm assuming you are thinking this is because of the "success" in Iraq... How much money have we spent, how many young American lives have suffered, and how long will it last once we leave?

And in the mean time the US is in pretty crappy shape. Not relative to Africa, but relative to the US.

If the current story in Iraq painted a good picture for Obama, we'd be choking on the coverage of him cutting school opening ribbons and shaking hands with Iraqi mayors who are stepping up and leading the rebuilding.

Instead, we're focusing on $4 gas and Congress is debating sports issues - read that again, sports issues. This stupid horse racing deal is next.

Your post is standard pacifist tripe. Assuming you've read any history at all, you'd know that similar comments could be made about any conflict, and the answer is always the same - and that is whatever answer strokes your personal politics.

From my standpoint - having been to/over Iraq and spent time in much of the rest of the region - it's money and blood well spent from a strategic national and international security viewpoint. It's been amazingly cheap and bloodless. In fact, I doubt the violent overthrow and complete remake of a nation will ever be accomplished by a nation as cheaply and bloodlessly again.

Of course, if you're a pacifist, or a Bush hater, or more likely both, then none of that makes an ounce of sense to you and sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher.

Wah, wah, wah, wah, Bush, wah, wah, blood, wah wah wah wah Iraq wah wah wah wah oil wah wah wah Bush wah wah hate wah wah wahhhhhnnnn.

Im convinced that you dont see the bigger picture. Bush displays hisself as some kind of liberator and champion of Democracy, through the lies of going to war in Iraq, he hasnt done that in Africa, in some of the countries there that need democracy the most. The administration humanitarian work is well documented and honorable, but solving the problems he hasnt done that at all. Not to say that we should be trying to solve everyones problems.

Our economy continues to grow, our housing market is adjusting to stem the tide of a ridiculous trend in unaffordable housing and hideous loan policies, unemployment remains incredibly low, inflation remains low...

Pretty crappy shape? I'd say we're in the middle of a very mild correction, well short of a recession (even the Dems have stopped using the word so much).

You sure you're not just reciting election year talking points?

Amazingly cheap, lol. Wow, did you just say that. and blood well spent. 4k lives lost is blood well spent. I find that very disgusting.
Here is someone from the administration, who differs from your opinion.

Lest I get mired in this, I'll disengage with this.

It's called national interests. Very smart people make decisions about what we will/will not do and who we will/will not help or talk to. They don't always make the right decision in retrospect. Including Bush "hisself".

You are filled with irony, MM. Starting with your screen name and ending with your assertion that I'm the one that doesn't see the bigger picture. :hihi:
