It's not my opinion. It is the opinion of the Iraq study group, the CIA, and the NIE report that came out in 2005.

Assessment on going into Iraq, Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, 1991:

    http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/templateC07.php?CID=55

Cheney and the whole Bush I admin got it right in 91. 70% of the American people now know the 91 position was the correct one, so they voted the repubs out of control of the house and senate.

We know, mon ami. Anyone who disagrees with you on this war is a peacenik and tree-hugger and is actually Ted Kennedy and is delusional and drank the kool-aid and listens to Michael Moore and sends money to Greenpeace. Are you so blind as to imagine that only the liberals are aganst this one? Bush never had the liberals, he's lost the moderates that elected him and he's already lost the pragmatic, thinking members of his conservative base. I really thought you'd be among them.

It's both, obviously. We cannnot stop the civil war and it ain't our fight. We can defeat the insurgency against the occupation by leaving the chit to them.

This is about the silliest thing I heard recently. You can't possibly offer any evidence to support this. There were no Iraqis among the 9/11 terrorists. No Iraqis have ever attacked America. Never. There is no evidence they wish to.

Al Qaida is still out there and they want to hit America again and probably will until we kill them all. They haven't because we wiped out their base in Afghanistan and have kept them on the run. I entirely approve of the way we handled Afghnaistan, though I think we have begun to slack off there because of Iraq.

But Iraq is an insignificant threat to the United States and always was. I can't imagine that you actually are afraid of Iraqis attacking America. Are you afraid of bears in the dark? Don't be a pantywaist, we can handle anything Iraq can give us, if they ever wanted a fight. Which they don't. They want to fight each other.

You already said that you like dead Iraqis. How can you possibly be against a situation where they kill each other instead of Americans taking casualties trying to kill them?

Saying "Our being there keeps them away from here" is like saying "I snap my fingers to keep the elephants away". It always seems to work, doesn't it?

Whether you wanna believe it or not, if we pull our troops out now, our children will have to deal with this later. War ain't pretty, and it ain't fun. But I fully believe that us being there IS keeping them from being here. I don't necessarily mean Iraq, but the Mid East in general. Muslim's want to kill Americans, period. The media would have us believe that it's a peaceful religion, but I submit to you that if you think this is true, get a copy of the Quran and check it out for yourself. They are brainwashed by their own media, and there's nothing we can do about that. They think when they see Britney Spears and her kind, that's a true representative of America. That is why they hate us, because they think we're all immoral. Worse yet, they equate her kind to Christianity! She is, after all, a good old Southern Baptist from Louisiana, right? Why else do you think they call us "The Great Satan". They don't get to see the normal American played out on their TV, just the freaks like her.
Let the dems like Hillary and Obama fight it out. It'll mean just another 4 more years with a repub in the White House.

Then show me some evidence, Fish. Any evidence at all to support this neocon republican talking point that has no substance. Iraqis have never attacked America. 9/11 was Al Qaida, not Iraq. The notion that America will be crawling with murderous Iraqis is simply not credible.

You are sadly mistaken. Al Qaida is only a tiny bunch of radical islamic criminals that are out to harm America. The rest of the 1.1 billion muslims may hate us or like us but they aren't trying to kill us, and many are our allies. The Kuwaitis friggin' love us! We have military bases and forces in eleven friendly muslim countries.

I have and I can see that you have not. The Quran, like most ancient religious documents, is a hodgepodge of centuries of oral tradition and contradicts itself many times. Like the Bible, you can find a passage to back any position you want to take.

You really can't seriously believe that Britney Spears is the cause of the muslim fear and loathing of America, can you?.

Do some research. The reasons many muslims distrust and fear America is because we have supported Israel for 40 years against the Palestinians. In the last four years we have invaded and occupied two muslim countries, one of which never attacked us, and now we are threatening a third one. Yet Osama hides in Pakistan and we leave him alone there. They hate and fear us because we are dangerous, violent, and unpredictable.

I wouldn't bet the farm on it. The Republicans are responsible for the Iraqi disaster and they are still backing the fool that leads them. It's going to just kill them in 2008, because the war will still be going on. The Democrats could pick up 100 seats in Congress along with the White House.

If the GOP seriously expected to regain power in 2008, they would stop this war before the elections. Instead most of them are riding the hellbound train.

If they would infiltrate the mosques in the US, you would have all the evidence you need. They're out there, Red. But they are patient. It's coming.:911:

Red, I get this info from 2 brothers, former Muslims, who are desperately trying to convey their message thru books, talkshows, interviews, etc..., and they are constantly met with sentiments much like yours. They both converted to Christianity years ago, (they were already living in America by that time with their family), and they were disowned by their own father. Their mother eventually went with them. They are natives of Turkey, and have seen both sides of the fence. Their names are Emir and Ergan Caner. They have several books published, but the one I have is titled "Unveiling Islam". If you choose to investigate this, know that they are both evangelical Christians, and the context of the books certainly contains evangelism. That being said, it also contains many facts about Islam, the religion, the history, etc..., and is a very interesting and informative read. Both of these brothers have appeared on Fox, CNN, and so on, so they're not some unknown wackos out there just trying to spread fear. They are legit. I have heard both of them in person, and have sat in on Q&A sessions, as well as had personal conversations with Ergan on more than one occasion.

One other thing-I didn't say anything about Iraquis in general, I said Muslims. When I said "over there", I meant the mid-east, and in fact, I plainly stated that in my original post.:thumb:
