It's commonly accepted(except by you) that this % of voters going to McCain will cause Obama to lose the election. Obama can't lose even 10% of them. You are not going to see conservative voters unhappy with McCain choosing the democratic candidate, so it's fairly significant if those numbers hold up. Polls have reflected Obama leading by a wide margin for months, and every Obama supporter has crowed about it. Since Obama's European vacation, he has steadily dropped. The race is far closer than it has ever been and in some cases, polls have shown McCain leading. This is a result of undecided voters and Hillary voters changing their minds- not republicans. In the end, if Obama can't wrangle these votes back in, he will lose. He should have gone after Virginia and the votes. Biden will not help him.
If it's "commonly accepted", then you should be able to cite a source with some numbers to suggest this. Who says? Many of those conservative voters who are unhappy with McCain are not going to vote at all! This hurts McCain and doesn't affect Obama. So now McCain supporters are crowing. Polls swing back and forth during a long campaign and it's a long time to November.
That's weak. I don't need to link an article stating it. It's simple math. Discredit it if you like, but that's laughable. Right back at ya Red. Who says they won't vote? If dems are counting on this, they will be greatly disappointed. As disappointed as some repubs might be by McCain, it's not the same as the snubbed Hillary votes. The numbers do not support your statement. Which is an expected response and I am sure most McCain supporters said the same thing months ago. However many dems feel this election has been and is a forgone conclusion, despite the current polls. And even a few moderates on here... The election is most assuredly not decided.
When the race between Hillary and Obama was heating up, didn't Biden say Obama wasn't ready to be the next president? It seems to me I heard him say something like the presidency shouldn't be on the job training? Keep in mind I'm not saying it but I could've swore Biden did!
david brooks (one of my favorite political analysts, sorry, from NYT gives all these reasons why biden should be picked by obama. yes, before the announcement) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/22/opinion/22brooks.html?em i was actually pulling for biden to get the presidential nomination (i think, if i can accurately remember that far back). blue-collar democrats are best.
If it's "simple math", why can't you show me the numbers? You are being self-discrediting. No problem, Dude, I never mind backing up my statements with some real sources. There are more . . . It is exactly the same. Some primary voters will not support their party's candidate--in either party. Many snubbed Giuliani Republicans will not vote for a anti-abortion candidate. Many snubbed neo-cons will not support a "maverick". You have offered no numbers, remember?
