Flags were waving? Did you not see the photos of the massive protests all over US cities in the run-up to the war? It was freaking insane. Oh, that's right, the "liberal" media didn't show that crap. To me, the coverage of the Iraq was the death-nail to the theory that the media is liberal. The media did nothing but hype the Iraq war.

Any intelligent and/or educated person who was concerned enough at the time to research it would have easily found that the whole idea of the war with Iraq on the theory of WMD was an absolute joke. Really, anyone who didn't pick up on that shouldn't be allowed to do anything better than work at McDonalds. But as for the oil, yes, that was a smart move for US national security. I just don't get why Bush wasn't honest about it.

That right there may be the funniest thing I've ever read. Especially since you obviously believe it.

They paid retire generals and officers in the army to say what they wanted them to say. The Pentagon gave members of the media talking points on what to say about the war. Thats not something I am making up Sabanfan, it happened. Didnt mean to jump right into the discussion, but that part of it, I have to say its true.

    nothing liberal about this.

the super rich pay no income taxes because they have no income.

i dont buy the argument that tax revenue will drop because of higher capital gains taxes. what?, are people going to not want to make $$$ on their $$$ just out of spite? no way, the $$$ will still be invested.

i pay capital gains on earnings from some stupid savings acct just like i would on futures. i suppose the only difference it that you can write off losses---maybe that makes all the difference?

I don't know about you, but where I come from, that's a lot of money. Especially to be forking over to the government. If you can afford that without batting an eye, then more power to you. But my point is, that even for the wealthy, that much in real dollars, hurts.
